I landed my first client a few days ago and this is what I did to achieve that: 1. Show, instead of telling - When outreaching to a potential client, re-edit 30s of one of their videos and show it to them. "Hey I re-edited your video" is 100x better than "Hey I want to edit your video" 2. Vulnerability always wins - Since I'm currently building up my portfolio, I allowed myself to work for a low retainer in exchange to build my case study from the results I bring to the clients video. You NEED to drop your ego when first starting out. 3. Starting conversations like a normal human - Most people copy & paste their proposals - Most people come across as "too much" or "too needy" and that is NOT what you want your client to think about you. Mass engagement events like the one below are VITAL for editors with under 100 followers 4. Only post high quality - these could be: - Before & After's - Tutorials (breaking down your editing process) - Project File Giveaways 5.
