to idiots, writers are capitalists for saying 'leave my work where i posted it & maybe toss me a public thank you' but artists are just trying to make a living by (rightfully!! cannot stress enough how much i support fan artists) offering commissions, paywalling their work, etc.

i really hate this developing idea that you don't owe anybody anything and that all social contracts are ridiculous. you can't behave purely in self-interest and then expect generosity from others. if you want to be a part of a community, you have to value the people within it.

We got your back, New York!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026).

day two and learning my decision to start every stream this month with a quick writing session was definitely the right one ♡
most drives being nuked aren't because of the few ppl reporting them. fanfic writers have been posting about their explicit fanfic about precious IP being deleted from their personal drives (due to being marked public with link by sharing with their beta readers) for over a year.

also i know i haven't updated fic in a while before the shutdown but i have a really ridiculous original small town wlw age gap fluffy low stakes soft bdsm romance novel brewing and i'm not even kidding
18 stream days in november and i feel like i should do a minimum of an hour of writing at the beginning of every single one of them while ao3 is down for funsies

i shouldn’t expect twitter individuals to read the news but it is all over the news that like 70% of websites have a major vulnerability putting them at risk to get hacked so bringing up the donations as if the devs r running a money laundering scheme is very irrelevant Lol
We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/
i see so much puke bowl discourse and i think i have a rarely brought up but very commonly experienced white people take on this to mention. the 'popcorn bowl that was also a puke bowl' was not actually puked in. it was a psychological crutch for a sick kid in the night.
