If we don’t want a critical society, let’s just say it openly. If this is not a democracy, let’s be clear about it. Stop bullying journalists.
What’s wrong in asking a man if his wife’s highly important role in election won’t interfere with his overt partisan stance? Obviously, it’s okay for the husband to defend the honour and professional ability of his spouse.
That should be the summary of the whole exchange.

Bae U to Dangote: you don’t have to stand, sit down, it’s fine. Most of the interviews we see you in are on the platforms that my generation doesn’t watch. I think it’s high time we had the man with the biggest refinery on the biggest show on YouTube. Curiosity made me ask, when do you think we can have you, sir?

The truth is Kwankwaso is doing the bidding of the APC. That statement exposed him. It's just unfortunate that Peter Obi is the one who will be the biggest loser. At the end of the day.

Southwest has a long, consistent record of betrayal.
Abiola betrayed Yar’Adua.
Awolowo betrayed Nnamdi Azikiwe.
Now Bola has betrayed El-Rufai.
The North handed them power in 2023.
They locked up the man who delivered it.
Trust is finished.
2027 will not be another free gift.

Tinubu, Akintola, El-Rufai: Why the North Cannot Trust Southwest in 2027
By Mohammed Bello Doka
When Nasir El-Rufai stood before the world in June 2022 and declared that 12 out of 14 northern APC governors had agreed to cede presidential power to the South, he was hailed as a statesman, a unifier, a northern leader with the courage to put national interest above regional ambition. He told reporters that day that a super majority of northern governors had taken a decision and that everyone, including the defiant Yahaya Bello, was bound by it . It was a moment of rare political sacrifice from a region that had grown accustomed to holding the reins of power.
Today, as El-Rufai languishes in the detention facilities of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the question that every thinking northerner must ask is this: What did the South do with that sacrifice? The answer is as devastating as it is simple. Silence. Complicity. Continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from southern political elites who have paid their media houses, their data boys, and their influencers not only to denigrate El-Rufai but to paint the entire North as a region of power-hungry traitors.
And now, these same southern voices expect the North to trust zoning again in 2027. They expect northerners who can see, who can think, who have not been blinded by tribal sentiment, to once again hand over power to a region that has demonstrated exactly what it thinks of northern loyalty.
Let us rewind to the beginning. Professor Ishaq Akintola, the founder of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has been remarkably candid about his role in this saga. In a press release dated March 23, 2026, Akintola confessed that MURIC was the first to demand a Yoruba Muslim president as far back as February 2021 . He and the Concerned Yoruba Muslim Scholars met and persuaded Tinubu to run. But they quickly realized that Yoruba Muslims alone could not deliver the presidency. They needed a handshake across the Niger. So they networked with northern Muslims and specifically sought out El-Rufai, whom they described as the only northern politician with the necessary political acumen to bring the North together behind Tinubu .
The meeting between Akintola, other southwest leaders, and El-Rufai was not a casual affair. It was a strategic intervention. And here is the detail the southern establishment does not want you to remember: When Akintola and his delegation came to El-Rufai, the former governor was not on good terms with Tinubu. They were, by El-Rufai’s own admission, political adversaries. Akintola pleaded with El-Rufai to reconcile with Tinubu and to support the Yoruba Muslim project. And El-Rufai, against the wishes of many in the North, agreed .
But where were the other southwest leaders? Who else from the region spoke out in that critical moment? The truth is, aside from Akintola and his small team of Islamic scholars, the southern political establishment was conspicuously quiet. They were happy to receive the North’s gift. They were ecstatic to watch El-Rufai publicly champion power shift, to watch him rebuff the naira redesign shenanigans that threatened Tinubu‘s election, to watch him accompany the candidate to Chatham House and defend the Muslim-Muslim ticket before an international audience . They were silent then because they were winning. They are silent now because silencing El-Rufai serves their purpose.
MURIC warned of this betrayal as early as August 13, 2023, when the Senate first withheld El-Rufai’s ministerial nomination. In an emergency statement after its Central Think Tank meeting, MURIC declared that the non-confirmation was a major threat to future alliance between the North and the South-West. The group issued a chilling prophecy: "The North may not hobnob with the South-West again if the champion of the North-South alliance is shabbily treated" . Today, that prophecy is being fulfilled before our very

In Nigerian journalism, ask a politician tough questions and his supporters call you an enemy.
Ask his opponent the same questions and the other side calls you a spokesman.
Apparently, objectivity is only acceptable when it agrees with you.
My job is not to defend your party. It is to ask the questions your party would rather avoid, and to give the side that isn’t in the studio a voice.
I play the devil’s advocate for every guest, regardless of party, tribe or ideology.
If my questions make you uncomfortable, don’t assume I’m against your guest. Ask whether the guest has answered them.
A journalist’s loyalty is not to a politician’s comfort, or an audience’s political tribe. It is to the public’s right to question power.
I am not here to cheer for your side. I am here to challenge every side.

PRESS STATEMENT
KWANKWASO IS DOING TINUBU’S BIDDING, HIS CALL FOR ATIKU TO STEP DOWN RECKLESS, UNCOUTH — ADC-PCC
Campaign Council accuses him of plotting to divide opposition, insists Atiku will win Kano with or without his support .
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has berated Senator @KwankwasoRM over his call for former Vice President @atiku Abubakar to step down for Mr @PeterObi , describing the statement as reckless, self-serving and a desperate attempt to advance President @officialABAT political interests ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the ADC-PCC, @officialKolaO , stated this while reacting to Kwankwaso’s interview on Channels Television, accusing the former Kano State governor of focusing on opposition leaders rather than confronting the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration that Nigerians are desperate to vote out.
Ologbondiyan declared that Atiku Abubakar would win Kano State (Kwankwaso's home state) in the 2027 presidential election with or without Kwankwaso’s support, stressing that the hardship, hunger, poverty and insecurity confronting Nigerians would ultimately determine their choices at the polls.
He noted that Kwankwaso’s position was particularly curious given his own political alignment with Peter Obi and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that, as a member of the opposition seeking to unseat the incumbent government, his priority should be building a stronger opposition rather than attempting to undermine another opposition leader.
“Rather than campaigning against President Tinubu, whose administration Nigerians are eagerly working to vote out, Kwankwaso is fixated on Atiku Abubakar, the ADC candidate, whom millions of Nigerians believe can restore economic stability and make life affordable again.
“Why is Kwankwaso so obsessed with Atiku? The answer may lie in his own political calculations.
Having reportedly described the office of the Vice President as a ‘spare tyre’, he appears more concerned about positioning himself for the 2031 presidential election rather than addressing the urgent challenges confronting Nigerians today,” Ologbondiyan said.
The ADC-PCC spokesman argued that Kwankwaso’s conduct raised questions about his actual political preferences for 2027, suggesting that his actions appeared more beneficial to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) than supporting any of the opposition candidates.
Ologbondiyan, however, maintained that history did not support the assumption that Kwankwaso’s political influence was indispensable to any presidential candidate seeking victory in Kano.
Citing the 2003 and 2007 presidential elections, Ologbondiyan recalled that former President Muhammadu Buhari secured victories in Kano despite not enjoying Kwankwaso’s support, arguing that Atiku could equally win the state in 2027.
“What Kwankwaso is doing amounts to advancing President Tinubu’s interests. It is a familiar APC strategy to use willing collaborators within the opposition to create confusion, sow division and weaken the collective efforts to bring about political change.
“Nigerians are wiser than that and will not allow themselves to be distracted by political manoeuvres designed to rescue an unpopular administration,” he said.
Ologbondiyan further accused Kwankwaso of having a history of political manoeuvring that, in his view, placed personal ambition above the collective interests of opposition parties.
He alleged that Kwankwaso’s latest intervention was less about strengthening Peter Obi’s presidential prospects than positioning himself for future political negotiations ahead of 2031.
“Nigerians are not fooled. There is a growing perception that Kwankwaso’s support for Peter Obi is driven more by his personal ambition than by a genuine commitment to the opposition’s collective objective of defeating the APC.

What is he coming to promise again? Will he promise to rebuild Tudun Biri, a resettlement scheme that was already completed and commissioned in January 2026, months before his campaign flag-off? Will he promise to complete the Abuja-Kaduna road that his administration revoked, re-awarded at 752 billion naira, and now claims will be finished by November 2026, just in time for the election? Will he promise the Kaduna Light Rail, a project still in the mobilisation phase, with contractors yet to fully break ground? Will he promise the Mando-Birnin Gwari road, flagged off in August 2026 with a 24-month completion window, meaning it will not be finished until after the votes are counted? What exactly is new? What exactly is sincere? What exactly is not a campaign prop?
The Northwest is the de facto capital of poverty in Nigeria. The National Bureau of Statistics reports a multidimensional poverty rate of 75.8 percent in the region, second only to the Northeast. The Cadre Harmonisé report shows 4.2 million people in the Northwest facing crisis-level food insecurity, with projections rising to 5 million in the 2026 lean season. UNICEF data shows primary school net attendance in the Northwest at just 47.3 percent, meaning more than half of school-age children are out of the classroom. Human Rights Watch, citing SBM Intelligence, recorded 2,938 kidnappings in the Northwest between July 2024 and June 2025, over 60 percent of the national total, with Kaduna alone recording 629 cases. Nigeria Watch recorded 3,974 deaths from rural banditry in 2025, more than double the figure for 2024. These are not political talking points. These are institutional figures. And yet, in the face of this avalanche of suffering, the president has been absent.
What will he tell the mother in Tudun Biri who lost her children to a Nigerian drone? What will he tell the father in Kachia whose family was abducted and never returned? What will he tell the farmer in Kajuru who buried his brothers after bandits attacked? What will he tell the flood victim in Zaria who lost everything? What will he tell the millions of out-of-school children roaming the streets of Kaduna while he commissions rail lines in Lagos? What will he tell the hungry, the poor, the abandoned, the forgotten? What will he promise again?
He will promise roads. He will promise rail. He will promise security. He will promise jobs. He will promise a better future. He will promise everything he promised in 2023 and failed to deliver. He will stand on a stage in Kaduna, surrounded by governors and senators and party chieftains, and he will tell the people that he cares. He will tell them that he has not forgotten them. He will tell them that the best is yet to come. And then he will fly back to Lagos, where the projects are real, where the money flows, where his people live.
Kaduna is not a campaign stop. Kaduna is a crime scene. And the man who is coming to campaign there is the same man who ignored the bodies, ignored the abductions, ignored the floods, ignored the hunger, ignored the children, ignored the pain. He ignored it all for three and a half years. Now he wants their votes. What will he promise again? What will he say that has not already been said? What will he do that has not already been abandoned? The people of Kaduna are waiting. But they are not waiting for promises. They are waiting for justice. They are waiting for a president who shows up when it matters, not when it is convenient. They are waiting for a leader who sees their suffering, not one who sees their votes. Will Tinubu be that leader? Or will he come, wave, promise, and disappear again?

Even Buhari toured all the states for reelection
Someone is now talking about not being able to campaign because of matters of state
But when we have emergencies he’s in France
I mean our dear president
This is my President 🤝
My fellow Nigerians, young and old, I know the pain you are carrying.
Parents go to bed worried about what they will feed their children tomorrow. Pensioners must choose between buying medicine and buying food. Young people work hard, yet transport, rent and basic needs consume what they earn. And across the country, families live with the fear of kidnapping, attacks and whether their loved ones will return home safely.
No family should have to face hunger and insecurity at the same time. We cannot allow this hardship and fear to become the future our children inherit.
If you are a registered voter, please go and collect your PVC. Hold on to it. It is your voice, your choice and your peaceful power to demand change.
Bola made life expensive. I will work to make life affordable again and restore the security every Nigerian deserves. Let us stand together, across generations, and vote for a Nigeria where every family can live with dignity, safety and hope. -AA

Today, I watched a “Seyi Tinubu Colloquium” being livestreamed on major television stations, and I couldn’t help wondering how deeply the culture of sycophancy has eaten into Nigerian society.
I remember the days of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, when Aso Rock became the venue for the wedding of one of his daughters to a sitting governor. Another governor also married into the presidential family. Those relationships attracted enormous political attention, but after Yar’Adua’s death, the political spectacle surrounding them faded so also did these marriages.
Today, we are witnessing another manifestation of this culture of power worship.
What exactly has @STinubu contributed to Nigerian society to warrant this elaborate colloquium, attended by so many “prominent personalities” and broadcast across major television stations? What extraordinary public service, intellectual contribution, or national achievement is being celebrated?
Is this about merit, or simply about being the son of a sitting president?
At a time when millions of Nigerians are struggling with hunger, unemployment, insecurity, and economic hardship brought about by his father, @officialABAT we should be having national shaming of the Tinubu regime. Sad day!
