Thanks to an incredible collaboration with Sony PlayStation, we’re bringing full modding support to Arma on PlayStation 5 and we’re not just talking about new models, but true, full-fledged modding, including scripts. It’s an honor to be pioneers in this space, and we’re immensely grateful to Sony for helping us blaze this trail and develop a system that works on their platform. Enjoy it — the journey wasn’t easy, but it was absolutely worth it. Coming very very soon.

Vigor was finally released on Steam, and last year alone, we gained more than 4.5 million new players across platforms. This brings the total number of unique players during its lifetime to over 21 million.

Arma Reforger is out NOW on PS5 store.playstation.com/en-cz/… We are finally bringing our tactical military simulator gameplay on PlayStation. With all the platform specifics in mind, including PS5 Pro support, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. We are closely cooperating with Sony on possible modding support, more info in the future on our socials. Huge thanks to everyone that helped to make it happen, both on the side of development and the side of Sony. We are looking forward to more cooperation in the future.

Vigor running on Steam Deck - I’m still surprised what graphics quality can be achieved on this device. I will try ROG Ally next, expecting even more (with Z1 Extreme SoC), but I’m already very satisfied with game performance on Steam Deck. Coming soon - store.steampowered.com/app/2…

I have just a few comments about the new GTA now that the trailer is officially out. - Return to Vice City (Miami). My favourite city of all the GTA games. Awesome. - Obviously set in present time. - Announced for 9th generation consoles only (XSX/XSS/PS5), no PC yet. Historically this has usually been the case with GTA, for example GTA V came out on consoles a year and a half before PC. - Leaks suck. This is definitely not how the developers envisioned the reveal. I've seen opinions that it was definitely leaked by @RockstarGames on purpose. Bullshit. You really don't want people's first impression to be of a terrible quality trailer with a crappy crypto watermark. - Can’t wait.

What a year, huh? I can’t remember the last time we saw so many good titles in one year across so many platforms. Aside from new IPs, we’ve mostly seen great sequels to established brands and quite a lot of interesting remakes. Then there’s the icing on the cake, one of the best DLCs I’ve ever seen: Phantom Liberty for @CyberpunkGame. @CDPROJEKTRED showed us many years ago, with Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine for Witcher 3, that their DLCs could serve as standalone games at many other studios, and this year they reminded us of that again. VR owners can be happy as well, as plenty of big titles were released this year, not to mention the hardware itself in the form of the PlayStation VR2 and Meta Quest 3. One more thing. Even Apple is trying to get in on the gaming market - not just with mobile platforms, but with their computers as well. This year saw their biggest push so far, and we were happy to support it this summer with an Apple silicon-enabled version of Arma 3. A lot happened on our local Czech pond too. The team from @ingame_studios released @CrimeBossGame and @AshborneGames will be releasing Last Train Home in two weeks. (Based on the demo, I honestly really like this game). We here at @bohemiainteract are also trying to contribute to this already busy year. Sure, we released a new DLC Spearhead 1944 for Arma 3,@DayZ got new content (and will continue to get new content for a long time), and we’ve now had our highest daily player count ever: 433.000 across all platforms. Without getting more specific regarding what we have planned for DayZ, I believe we’ll surpass this number next year. As part of our Bohemia Incubator, we also released @SilicaGame, our Sci-Fi RTS/FPS hybrid developed by @dramthethief, which is currently in Early Access. It’s a very rare type of game, so please check it out. But the release of a big new title is an event of another magnitude. I’m really happy to say that Arma Reforger is finally out and available. Arma is coming back to consoles after many years, bringing with it a wide range of modding possibilities. We’re glad to contribute in our small way to this absolutely insane year. As usual with our titles - a game’s life doesn’t end with its release, that’s when its life begins. We’ve got a lot of things we’d like to see implemented in @ArmaPlatform in future updates, so you’ve got a lot to look forward to. Again, just as a reminder, it’s all still part of #RoadtoArma4. Finally, I can’t help but bring up an uncomfortable subject. As positive as this year has been for games, it has been one of the worst years that I can remember for the industry’s job market. There hasn’t been a month that’s passed, or even a week in some cases (especially towards the end of the year), where we haven’t heard about layoffs at game studios. I realize that we are very fortunate to avoid such an issue, and would like to invite anyone who’s been affected by these events to visit careers.bohemia.net/position…. Thanks so much to all you players for your support. It’s because of you, along with our great teams, that we have been so lucky.
#ArmaReforger 1.0 is OUT NOW! 🚁 Featuring helicopters, a revamped supplies system, new assets, optimizations, and more, 1.0 update brings a whole new dimension to the game.

Dear Arma community, With the tragic events currently unfolding in the Middle East, we feel it is vital to share once again our statement concerning the use of #Arma3 as a source of fake news footage: bohemia.net/blog/arma-3-foot… It’s disheartening for us to see the game we all love being used in this way. While we have found ways to tackle this issue somewhat effectively by closely cooperating with leading fact-checking agencies, sadly we can't mitigate it entirely. We can see many of you actively helping debunk such videos on various social media platforms, and we thank you for this.

Switching between #TheLegendOfZelda #TearsOfTheKingdom and #Diablo4 is little confusing, but I should be able to finish Lilith with my Master Sword quite soon. Then I can switch back and finally deal with Ganondorf with my fire mage. #NintendoSwitch #ROGAlly

Not that anyone's asking, but… #Xbox #XboxGamePass
Hello gamers! 🎮 We’d just like to mention (for no particular reason) that @bohemiainteract likes @XboxGamePass quite a lot. As both a developer and publisher, we see it as an excellent addition and, at the same time, a disruption to the classic and established game store model. Xbox Game Pass is an alternative that allows more players to become part of our @DayZ gaming community and we are quite happy this alternative exists.

ASUS ROG Ally. After few days of use, I would like to share my first impressions of this device, primarily for people considering getting one. There are going to be 2 long tweets. Apart from the first impressions, I occasionally compare ROG to Steam Deck or Switch. So, you are thinking about buying ASUS ROG Ally, but you are still not sure, if it’s THE handheld you are looking for? TLDR: Don’t. If you are not absolutely sure, don’t do it. While the handheld itself is pretty good, experience with this device is easiest to describe as… frustrating. Unless you have extreme tolerance and patience, it's probably not a device suitable for you. If, on the other hand, you enjoy all sorts of tweaking, customizing, optimization and overcoming challenges, you'll enjoy this. I am describing a scenario in which I use ROG Ally as a standalone device - pure handheld, without docking, mouse or keyboard. Only gaming - no Office, no Photoshop, really nothing else. The biggest strength and at the same time the weakness of this device is the operating system. Sure, Windows 11 doesn't sound like an extra technological challenge for the average user. However, Windows 11 without a mouse and keyboard is a slightly different story. It doesn't look like a problem on paper - we have a lot of tools at our disposal - an analog joystick and a touch screen instead of a mouse. A virtual touch keyboard that can be called up at any time in several ways, including a physical button. A software solution to facilitate work with the device directly from Asus - Armory Crate. A panel with quick options called Command Center. Technically, every situation you can get into as a user has a solution. If I have time, I'll go into more detail after much more time with this device. But in short - Windows, at least in its current form, is by no means a suitable system for this type of device. Not even remotely. You are able to gradually reduce the amount of annoyances that Windows throws at you, but moving every little step takes a fair amount of time. The easiest scenario for this device is to use it as a “handheld Xbox”, essentially a mobile Game Pass machine. This is about the only scenario where I'd be willing to recommend the device, but again, only to someone who isn't expecting a seamless console experience. You will still be switching between several control methods, even several times per minute in extreme cases during use of this device. You will keep updating different things from different places and apps across the system. You will go from software that has a UI/UX optimized for comfortable control on a gamepad to others where you have to simulate a mouse, while a joystick does not replace it conveniently and touch control on such display is not accurate enough. You can download Steam as well, but if majority of your games are on Steam, for God's sake, buy Steam Deck instead. To be fair, ASUS really tried to mitigate the BS given by the chosen operating system. Various updates specifically for this device come out on a daily basis. But ASUS itself can only do so much. Until Microsoft starts supporting these handhelds at the OS level (UI/UX/TDPmngmnt/hibernation…), many things cannot even be resolved from ASUS's position. But. I've already put so much time and energy into this device that I enjoy making it into a usable handheld. Technological Stockholm syndrome. It reminds me a lot of the beginnings of Symbian and Android, but it's probably closest to the Nvidia Shield Portable, down to such details as gamepad controller mapping for games without native support. 1/2

I really like the hardware. Design is a subjective thing, but unlike, for example, the Steam Deck (which I still recommend significantly more to the average person), the ROG Ally feels much more like a quality piece of hardware than a developer kit. Display and speakers are definitely better in all aspects than Steam Deck, buttons and analogs are comparable, backpedals are just two and less ergonomic, and there are no trackpads. Especially with Windows, that could definitely help. There is one more thing missing, that could help a lot with Windows on this form-factor. That would be stylus, preferably with slot inside the body of handheld itself. Comfort and ergonomics will also be quite different for everyone. Random flex - I'm just over two meters tall (which Google tells me is 6'7"). Why is this important? I have adequately large hands for my height, and I find the ROG Ally to be the most comfortable of all handhelds I've ever tried. Definitely more comfortable than Steam Deck. The Nintendo Switch is then a torture instrument for a bigger hands, compared to these two devices. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to describe the performance. Again - everything great on paper. Unfortunately, the reality changes from day to day, when a single update can completely change the performance and behaviour of the entire device. We'll see when ASUS calms down a bit with updates and the situation stabilizes. What is already clear is that the ROG Ally has a much higher performance than the Steam Deck, but apparently a lower performance per Watt in TDP < 15. The same goes for battery life, but in general - I don't see at least one thing changing regardless of the updates - the device will last noticeably less than the Steam Deck (again, same battery capacity, lower performance per Watt, higher overall performance, Windows). I'm not even talking about the Nintendo Switch, especially OLED version is battery champion. Windows, despite all the inconveniences associated with using them on this form-factor, are providing a lot of freedom. So far I've tried Steam, GOG, BattleNet and especially Game Pass and everything works perfectly fine. Again - it's not necessarily a pleasant experience to set everything up, but in the end, it's definitely usable. Once it's just a matter of running the game one has set up, the gaming experience itself is excellent. But until you get to gaming itself, it's quite a pain. I will rather tell it again: don't expect a similarly streamlined experience here as with consoles, but not the same limitations either. No other handheld that I know gives you as many options and freedom, but at the same time doesn't annoy you as incredibly much. Seriously consider if you have the patience for it and if you enjoy tinkering with technical stuff. If so, you'll have fun while you're setting everything up, and of course during gameplay. If not, you'll be entertained the whole time you play, but not so much during the way to the service center after you throw it against the wall when you run out of patience. 2/2
