If you’re an artist, please do not spent the money someone sent for a commission BEFORE you send the completed piece.
Unless you intend to complete it within that week..
Too many people are commissioning artist and being ghosted for 6 plus months or longer..

I don't care about fee. I hate that I have money sitting there and cannot get them out till I get it over 50. Which at this point may never happend. And that is my money, I need it, I earned it and I want it! WTF does it have to sit there ?
I don't get why people are mad at Vgen for charging a fee? Are people just not understanding there's always a cost to doing business?
Or maybe i'm just too used to paying £300 to £1000 for tables as my cost to doing business??
A 5% fee seems really reasonable to me (especially after being on etsy as long as I was, they charge you a postage fee when they don't even handle a single part of it!)

Starving artist trope is overrated, you're not soulless or greedy or less valid as a creative for doing paid work...

Ya’ll love to romanticize the idea of the “passionate starving artist”
We don’t want to starve. We want to be able to pay our bills and not scrape by paycheck to paycheck.

But seriously. Artists. Do not keep yourself exclusive to a single platform, especially if you want to do this professionally. You’re just limiting yourself

I started doing YCHs to get creative freedom, practice and keep prices fair for clients. Saying YCHs have "less merit" is just disrespectful. I pour my heart and soul into every piece. Also yes, art is a business. We literally cannot live off of fresh air.

Folks, please, please, PLEASE, for the love of GOD before you join random raffles / drop your ocs, LOOK AT THE ARTIST'S PROFILE FIRST. If 95% or more of their posts are engagement bait, & zero art, DON'T JOIN.
