Re France
If I think the violence, looting, burning and riots are only about the cost of living or students' protest, I am delusional
Genuine social grievances can be encouraged/agitated/exploited as a smokescreen for organised political destabilisation and downfall of France
Imagine if those who call themselves Antifa
(Anti Fascist)
Are the most violent, most destructive, most dangerous
And biggest threat to the freedom, liberty, rights and democracy we enjoy
What if π΅π©π¦πΊ are the fascists and biggest threat to free speech, debate, conversation
Re France
Rioters burn down the historic Limoges, assault police and loot Louis Vuitton
Whoβs to blame?
Billionaires, of course, not the violent rioters
When our worldview is so myopic that it has only one villain: billionaires
Critical thinking is a luxury we canβt afford
I know people who see everything in life through this lens
Oppressed vs Oppressor
The oppressed can never be guilty
The oppressor can never be innocent
Eg
A thief stealing a bag from Louis Vuitton is oppressed
Louis Vuitton is the oppressor
The thief can never be guilty
Always find it weird when people tell me criminality and violence against others is justified when they own more
I know of people who view literally everything through the lens of oppressed vs oppressor
If they view you as the oppressor, all violence is justified, it's absurd
If a wealth tax is justified, argue for it on its merits
Introducing one to appease a rioting mob is another matter
Government must uphold democracy and the rule of law, not appease in fear of disorder
But in reality is the burning, riots and violence about wealth inequality?
Re France
Burning historic buildings, destroying small businesses and looting Louis Vuitton are not acts of liberation or rebellion
We are witnessing βoppressed vs oppressorβ or βpoor vs billionairesβ being disingenuously used as a narrative to excuse criminality and violence
This civil disorder in France reflects a deeper ideological hostility towards the Rule of Law
Destruction is reframed as resistance and lawlessness celebrated as liberation
Are we seeing ideologies that are using violence and destruction to reject secular authority?
Seeing the world exclusively through oppressor and oppressed lens means every transgression against the wealthy can be reframed as resistance
A stolen Louis Vuitton bag is not a justifiable class struggle
Nor does it magically transform theft into liberation/revolution

Ah, the classic justifiable solution to grievance
Burn centuries old historic buildings, riot, destroy property and shops, assault police officers and loot Louis Vuitton - bc grievances always excuse violence and civil disorder
Once Rule of Law is destroyed we have anarchy
Re France
When grievances become justifiable licence and excuse for lawlessness, excuse to riot, loot, burn and destroy
Whoever uses the most violence makes the new rules
Once Rule of Law/Democracy are destroyed we have anarchy
Then the most violent tyranny fills that void

If everyone who felt the system was unfair broke the law, looted, burned & destroyed, how long would society last?
Rule of Law exists to prevent this
When grievances become justifiable licence to break the law, equality disappears and whoever uses most violence makes the rules
Dear @BBCNews
If you were the primary source of news re the civil disorder in France we'd know nothing
Your intention to not report the reality is noticeably odd
This is exactly why raw, primary content/citizen journalism are critical and your journalistic integrity is gone
Imagine if we didn't have X or independent news
We'd have no idea what's actually happening in France
Legacy news media would just feed us generic photos and sanitised narratives of routine protests

If we only had legacy media we'd be led to believe Macron criticised protests accompanied with a generic photo of police near protesters
That's why primary content is critical
