Attachment patterns of isolation, disconnection & punishment in schools play a huge role in current & future brain function & the health of children's nervous systems. Do we create ed settings where connection is felt regulating.? Or primed for protection over connection?

For pupils to thrive in school, they need their survival & emotional needs met first. This is where the brainstem, survival & limbic attachment system come in.The brain needs safety & connection before learning becomes possible. 1. Safety. 2.Connection. 3. Regulation. 4. Learning.

Making pupils feel worse doesn’t teach self -regulation,emotional regulation or positive behaviour. Feeling safe enough to learn does. When our pupils are having a difficult time, they don’t need more shame & punishment. They need safety, support & connection.

🌎 No two students are alike: some need extra support, others need bigger challenges, and many need both! That’s inclusive teaching in action. #LeadInclusion #UDL #InclusiveEd #EdLeaders #TeacherTwitter

Inclusion isn't a space we create or a box to ✅; it’s a habit of thought and a way of teaching. It’s the quiet work of shifting perspective- away from asking where someone fits -toward how we think, so that everyone has space and opportunity🧩. #InclusionMatters #WorldAutismDay

Inclusion isn't defined by a seat in a classroom; it’s about meaningful participation: a student's ability to truly learn, comprehend, and DO #InclusiveEducation #UniversalDesignForLearning #UDL

Inclusive schools don't just "fit" students in—they build a culture where everyone actually belongs. True inclusion means moving beyond accessibility to intentionality. When we celebrate diverse minds and backgrounds, every student wins.

Sometimes the loudest things we carry are the ones we don’t talk about. Making space to talk about our mental well-being isn't a distraction from our goals; it’s the foundation for them. Who are you holding space for today? #OCSBBeWell #BellLetsTalkDay

Open the door to knowledge for every student, regardless of their background or learning style. Open the door to opportunity by connecting students with resources & pathways they might not see themselves. Open the door to belonging & create a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Connection isn't built in minutes,it is built by micromoments & therapeutic micromoments .This is what pupils brains thrive on, it's hardwired for it. The way we speak ,listen & respond has a profound impact, not just emotionally, but also neurologically. 🧠🌱

At its essence, trauma is in the nervous system. When your brain perceives a threat,it turns on your sympathetic response, moving from safety to activation, triggering a massive physiological response.🧠🌱

Children understanding their window of tolerance is important in doing trauma work or just working with children in schools. This teaches children how to manage their emotions under stress by giving them a toolkit of inner resources to self-soothe & keep within their window. 🧠🌱
