I'm doing Internet measurements & information services, with interest in #InfoSec @ RIPE NCC (RIPE Atlas&related). My opinions are mine or so I think!

I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude. There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.
I wonder if the cabin staff dared telling him "sir you can't do that", being more equal an all that

The âlargest theft of labor in human historyâ indeed.

IIUC both #openai's and #anthropic 's AI agents did stuff that - if they were done by a human - would be felonies. I wonder what the consequences will be...?

Is this true...? If so, who in their right mind would ever knowingly want to buy an LG TV with this "feature"?? notebookcheck.net/LG-smart-TâŠ

One of the experiences Iâve had in my career is that I say âI think this bad thing will happen and we should be worried about it now â in advance when maybe we can prevent it.â
And people chide me that I canât know itâll happen, and they talk to me about the hypothetical danger of overhyping the bad thing, usually worrying over abstract ideas like loss of trust in technologists that (mostly) just donât seem as bad as the bad thing. Then, as predicted, the bad thing happens.
So Iâm prepared to be wrong and ridiculed as an out of touch idiot. But Iâm also prepared to stake my reputation on the idea that real-world ID will be promoted as a way to verify both age and human identity; that national governments will increasingly encourage and mandate this; that at some point weâll even start having a debate about whether police should get this data. And Iâm positive that weâre going to see tons of ID verification service breaches along the way.

Well, what did "you" expect? Age verification is essentially ID-ing people, however you phrase it. Data will leak. Your identity, and what you do online connected to it, will become a dataset for sale - and you can blame some careless company. Good luck dealing with that!
Perhaps we could start by enforcing Asimov's robot laws, before it's too late? At the moment we're doing kind of the opposite...
