Artists who send organized sessions get better mixes. Name your files, bounce your stems, label your reference track. You are not being extra. You are being professional, and it shows up in the final sound.

A song needs more than a release to pay you. Here are the registrations independent artists miss most often, and what each one actually collects:
1
8
3. The MLC: collects mechanical royalties for streams in the US for the composition. If your songs are not registered there, that money cannot find you.

Do this paperwork early, when the song is fresh, not years later when the leverage and the details are gone. Registrations are unglamorous. Unpaid artists usually skipped exactly this part.
Finished song to live everywhere is a process, not an upload button. Release Ready, in Academy Starter at $19/month, is built for that stretch between done and released. DM me ACADEMY academy.signmycheck.com

A mix is not finished when everything is audible. It is finished when the right thing is loudest at the right moment. Arrangement decisions do not stop at production. They continue in the mix.

If your songs are not registered right, money with your name on it can sit uncollected. Copyright Publishing and Royalties Essentials, in Academy Starter at $19/month, covers the registration side of your music. DM me ACADEMY academy.signmycheck.com

If your catalog has never been audited, you do not have a paperwork problem yet. You have an unknown problem. Unknown is the expensive kind. Start with a diagnostic: ko-fi.com/kindgenius/link/LA…

A release rollout is not a release date. It is the 4 weeks of decisions around that date. Here is the structure I walk artists through:
1
6
Week minus 2: content and pitching. Short-form clips cut, EPK or one-sheet updated, playlist and media pitches sent while there is still time for anyone to say yes.
1
2
Release week and after: post with a plan, track what the audience responds to, and follow up every inquiry. A rollout is a campaign, not a post. Planning one for an artist is core work at ELUS Artist Advantage.

Your ISRC is the permanent ID of your recording. When songs get re-released, moved between distributors, or cleaned up, sloppy ISRC handling can split your streams and your data. Keep a catalog sheet. Future you is counting on it.

Distribution is no longer the gate. Knowledge is. Any artist can release worldwide today, but publishing, registrations, and metadata still decide who actually gets paid. Access went up. Education did not keep pace.

The ELUS Music Business Academy is live. Training for independent artists who make the music but neglect the business. Lesson 1 of every course is a free preview, lessons 2 to 6 locked. DM me ACADEMY. ko-fi.com/kindgenius/tiers Scroll past the $15 tier to Academy tiers.
