A U.S. congressman wants to change how we legally “own” video games.
Rep. Ritchie Torres has announced plans to introduce the Power To The Players Act, a bill that would direct the FTC to create rules protecting consumers who buy video games.
The proposal would give players three basic rights:
>The right to own the games they purchase, rather than simply receiving a revocable license
>The right to keep playing games after online servers are shut down, through an offline mode
>The right to transfer or resell games they own
Torres argues that if a company can take a game away simply by shutting down its servers, then the consumer didn’t really buy the game in the first place.
Torres also hopes the legislation could eventually establish a precedent for ownership rights across other parts of the digital economy:
“If you pay for it, you own it.”

One time, 24 years ago, I got really drunk and a fat girl had sex with me.
I am now officially revoking my consent to that encounter.
I was raped.
I will be writing a book about it.

One of the only existing groves of American Chestnut trees is scheduled to be destroyed next month to make room for a datacenter. I made an entire video about what this tree meant and the efforts to bring it back that have lasted decades. Consumption knows nothing of sacrament.

.@TheQuartering is one of the most insufferably hypocritical personalities online.
He built an audience by acting morally superior, then cries victim and tries to rewrite reality the moment his own behavior gets criticized.
Watching his façade crumble is deeply satisfying.

Are you guys serious? How can you possibly turn the perpetrator into the victim?
@EinhornGabe runs an ID verification company and chose to doxx someone simply because that person preferred not to work for someone from his own tribe. The irony is that Einhorn’s behavior only proved the person’s concerns right.
The victim here is the kid who was targeted and exposed, not the guy abusing his position to punish someone for exercising personal choice.

I was stating why I was not interested after you had asked to interview 3 times. I found out you were Jewish after the fact. My experiences with Jews have not been pleasant, both in person and online. This is not to say I havent had positive experiences, but on the aggregate that is not the case.
Obviously, the reactions by your community only serves to further prove my point and indicate your post on X was not done in good faith. I am sure that if you indicated you didn't want to work for someone who was white or Christian this would not have blown up to the capacity it has here today nor would you have been intimated as I have been.
Additionally, even supposing none of this were to happen your actions here today clearly demonstrate a level of immaturity and possibly insecurity, which I wouldn't expect of a 24 year old self proclaimed entrepreneur.
Given that I have been doxed and intimated by your community including having my personal life investigated for no other reason than a single comment I cant imagine any reasonable person not coming to a similar conclusion, per the post above.
