#31DaysOfHalloween #31DaysOfHorror 2026! October 1: The Shining (1980) + Doctor Sleep Director's Cut (2019). Decided to start with a twofer, Stanley Kubrick's classic OG and Mike Flanagan's intertwined sequel, both based upon novels published by Stephen King.

Looks like a prize winning Halloween pumpkin to me!

#31DaysOfHalloween #31DaysOfHorror 2026 October 14: Phantasm II (1988). A belated sequel, the story continues from the 1979 film. Initially disjoined and confusing, the film becomes an Evil Dead style action horror and provided me with a few inappropriate laughs.

#31DaysOfHalloween #31DaysOfHorror 2026 October 13: V/H/S (2012), a found footage horror anthology film that kicked off the V/H/S franchise. A mixed bag of brash horror / thriller shorts, a few of the stories are really good, but the whole thing doesn't quite hang together.

#31DaysOfHalloween #31DaysOfHorror 2026 October 12: Obsession (2025). Released theatrically in 2026, Obsession is a supernatural horror film written, directed, and edited by Curry Barker on a $750,000 budget. Weird, twisted and creepy, it's freaking great.

#31DaysOfHalloween #31DaysOfHorror 2026 October 11: House of Usher (1960). A Gothic horror film directed by Roger Corman, based upon a short story by Edgar Allan Poe. Vincent Price, Mark Damon, Myrna Fahey and Harry Ellerbe really ham things up, in this gloriously camp classic.

#31DaysOfHalloween #31DaysOfHorror 2026 October 10: Evil Dead Burn (2026). A sequel to Evil Dead Rise (2023), this one goes full throttle once it gets going. Critics thought it was too gory and brutal, but isn't that the point? The one shot style action sequences were awesome.

#31DaysOfHalloween #31DaysOfHorror 2026 October 9: Army of Darkness (1992). The third instalment in Sam Raimi's Evil Dead franchise, it's a funny and action packed thrill ride, with some brilliant practical effects and loads of quotable lines.

#31DaysOfHalloween #31DaysOfHorror 2026 October 8: The Omega Man (1971) + I Am Legend (2007). Both films are based upon a story by Richard Matheson, which heavily influenced the modern zombie genre, and explore the condition of human loneliness in a post-apocalyptic world.

#31DaysOfHalloween #31DaysOfHorror 2026 October 7: Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981). A no-frills slasher, that just gets on with things after the character introduction. Campsite, woodland, hooded killer, disposable teens, it's loads of fun!
