Genesis is starting to look much bigger than another seasonal grind Ben’s AMA gave us a clearer picture of how Cambria’s persistent world could work: • Local banks and markets Each city will have its own storage and trading post. City-specific crafting bonuses could create real reasons to move resources and gear around the map. • Transport as a profession Players will be able to transport goods, protect caravans or raid them. Royal Road will include safe zones at rest stops where PvP is not possible, but the road itself won’t be safe everywhere. • Moving farming hotspots Bonus zones will shift around the map. As they get farmed, they shrink while the boost increases. Staying longer could mean better efficiency, but also more risk. • More decisions around gear Ben said T4 should remain competitive. Stronger gear may improve efficiency, but losing it will be more expensive. Artifact losses will also depend on expedition length. • Charters are coming soon The upcoming Charters mint should be one of the next major steps before @playcambria Genesis. Charters will be connected to access, earning potential, sponsorship, Merchant Fleet and other economic venues. • RSGP connected to gameplay Charter holders will be able to convert Royal Favour into RSGP. Guild competition and future Outlands activities are also expected to create new ways to earn Royal Favour. • New item types Heirlooms and Legendaries appear to be new item types coming to Genesis. The screenshots also show new Energy Orb variants. • Items on OpenSea? Some screenshots appear to show an OpenSea button next to certain items, with amounts worth several thousand dollars displayed below. If those are tradable in-game assets, that would be a huge step for Cambria’s economy. The exact mechanics still need clarification. What interests me most is how these systems connect. Crafters need resources. Traders need routes. Caravans need protection. Lost gear needs replacing. Competitive players need Royal Favour. And all of these activities could feed into the same persistent economy. Genesis may give every type of player a different way to participate in the same world.
