We’re in year four of developing the traditional KILLABEARS film. We still haven’t rolled cameras, and as many of you know, it’s been quite the journey. The wen wen wen crypto crowd has shared with us their displeasure at times :)
Hollywood moves at its own pace. We have navigated the process as best we can. It's just slow.
We made our first two live-action shorts to illustrate our vision and help move the larger film along. They were a lot of fun to make and to share with our @killabearsnft and wider crypto communities.
As AI tools improved, we started discussing a third short. We were kicking around ideas a couple of months before learning about the Lumara Film Festival, presented by @moonpay and @AskVenice.
We felt the technology was ready, the concept for The Broadcast was strong, and it fit naturally alongside our first two shorts.
So away we went... we made it, and submitted it to the contest.
Three things are clear.
1. The traditional film process moves slowly. We’ve felt that firsthand.
2. We’ve built IP that people connect with. Our IP, story and universe have depth. We’ve seen people of all ages and backgrounds connect with Dr. Fomo, the bears and the stories we’ve created.
3. Creative control gives us options. Early on, we declined a network term sheet largely because we wanted to retain control of our IP. Keeping that control means we can explore any type of content, at any time, and on any medium that we chose. There’s real value in taking the harder road when it gives you the freedom to choose what you make next, and also when.
That leaves us with two paths we can pursue in parallel.
Path 1: The traditional film
We keep pushing forward. As @SethGreen told me in 2022, it moves slowly forever, then suddenly at lightning speed. I’m eager for the day I finally get to meet Zeus ⚡️.
Path 2: Exploring an AI series
The Broadcast has shown us what the current tools can do. We want to build on what we’ve learned and explore how this could work as a series.
KILLABEARS launched on-chain in 2022. We’re a crypto native brand built around characters and a community. Using new technology to bring our world to the screen feels like a natural extension of those roots.
And we want these stories to reach people far beyond crypto.
The Broadcast is now one of six finalists for Lumara’s Grand Prize and Jury Selection awards.
@kickRRR is flying in for the occasion, and we're looking forward to attending the premiere.
We appreciate @moonpay and @AskVenice giving filmmakers a stage through Lumara.

Oh Fuck as Dr Fomo would say. Feels amazing to have made the Finalist lineup in the Lumara Film festival. Excited to go to New York and celebrate with all the talented people who create amazing things using AI.
@moonpay @AskVenice

Let’s go @killabearsnft
New beginnings for the Killas, excited to see Memo stepping in to lead the web3 front. We love the bears 🐻
Today marks a new beginning for KILLABEARS as illustrator Memo Angeles steps in as CEO. @MemoAngeles_KB will take charge of daily operations with a sharp focus on Web3, while founders Ben @mr_benft, Mikael @kickRRR and Bean @KryptoBean transition their attention to shepherding the feature film through Hollywood yet stay only a phone call away for Memo.
To support this shift, we’ve formed an advisory board of trusted community leaders—full details on its members and mandate will follow soon—and we are launching a community DAO that will give holders a direct voice in shaping future lore, characters, and storylines across the Killaverse.
Additional timelines and participation details are coming in the days ahead.

Seriously, where would you go?
If you don't like $ETH anymore and you want to go somewhere else, honestly, where are you going to go?
Don't get me wrong, ETH has underperformed and it's been difficult, especially as a large bag holder (relative to me and my portfolio)
But quite honestly, the only competitor is Solana - but let's be honest, it's a jittery mess with constant transaction timeouts and insane levels of slippage and/or RPCs that can't keep up.
All of that happens on Solana despite the massive benefits it receives from being significantly more centralised than ETH.
Please don't take this as a Solana hate post, or a cope post. I'm not an ETH maxi, I hold many coins and use many ecosystems.
But ETH really holds up the core values of what decentralised money is meant to be. Solana just has far too many tradeoffs IMO.
So where do you go? Back to Bitcoin.
I love Bitcoin, but it doesn't have smart contracts and it was never designed for that.
The 'Bitcoin L2's' are realy a facade. If you thought ETH L2s were centralised and required too much trust, well Bitcoin L2's (more like totally seperate sidechains) are even worse.
So, honestly, where do you go?
For that reason, I will never fully abandon Ethereum, despite prevailing sentiment.
