Following a vibrant Rhinegold at @E_N_O, conductor Martyn Brabbins makes an impassioned plea:
“If we follow the implications of what the Arts Council have asked us to do, what you heard and saw tonight will be in massive jeopardy. . . .
“Do everything you can to support us.”

I had the pleasure of studying with J. Paul Hunter at @englishatuva; he was the second reader on my 2010 dissertation. I'll remember him for his warm and magnanimous personality as well as his keen and wide-ranging intellect.

The scale of the James Madison building of @librarycongress is always stunning. It is the largest library building on the planet, with 2.1 million total square footage, and the third-largest government building in the DC area, after the Pentagon and FBI's Hoover bldg.

But seriously, is there a term for when a metaphorical meaning overwhelms the primary meaning so much that the primary meaning is open to metaphor again? Maybe this line is brilliant?

The general point of this piece about social media business models is valid, but I'm baffled by how @Asymmetricinfo came to believe that Goodwill stores are staffed by volunteers. The stated mission of the org is job training and employment.
