Very happy to see “Opportunities as Artifacts and Entrepreneurship as Design” in print at AMR!
Written with @Marouane_gbg and @yashmanso, I hope it will prove useful to scholars and (by extension) practitioners.

We're in Stockholm. You know how there are some places where you think "Nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there"? Stockholm is the kind of place that makes you want to live there.

You keep your life only at the regime's discretion is as clear as could be. I remember pointing out the difference between officially sanctioned police brutality in Russia versus George Floyd, where the officer had a fair trial and was jailed. The WH reaction here is Russian.

The US is now doing the kind of things we used to make fun of banana republics for doing when I was a kid.
I know not all the people who supported this man are idiots. Is there a point where the non-idiots say "enough is enough?"

I'm meeting more people who've moved from the US to Sweden to join startups. I've noticed they really appreciate how few crazy distractions there are here. You can focus on doing the work of your life.

Free speech advocates can also look back fondly at the famous Hustler Magazine (Larry Flynt) v Jerry Falwell case in 1988. A pornographer versus a preacher, and the Rehnquist court was 8-0 for Hustler. "At the heart of the First Amendment is the recognition of the fundamental importance of the free flow of ideas and opinions on matters of public interest and concern. The freedom to speak one's mind is not only an aspect of individual liberty -- and thus a good unto itself -- but also is essential to the common quest for truth and the vitality of society as a whole."

It's becoming very obvious that generative AI is making all forms of non-exam assessment totally obsolete.
It's a threat to the integrity of education everywhere.
It's not that hard to solve though - we just need more handwritten & in-person exams!

Yes, @TheFIREorg spent a lot of time defending conservatives on campus these past 10 years.
But the enemy of free speech isn’t necessarily partisanship, it’s power. And in recent months, the boot has been on the other foot.
