Here, though, the stud sits on top, and the massive erosion is at the bottom. Oops! Upside down! I suspected the restorers of the fifties of putting it back the wrong way up in 1959 amid the emerging LEGO craze, just so the stud would be on top, "as it should be". But the experts are innocent: someone may already have flipped it earlier; they only straightened it. Gentlemen engineers, help me out: how exactly does bottom erosion work? What's the essence of the effect? Natural or artificial? Until then, my guess remains that this one is indeed standing upside down. CAST! 🧱
