It is now beyond dispute that Vatican Secretariat of State treated the SP pilgrims with scandalous contempt. But I’m afraid the buck stops with Pope Leo, who should not have permitted this to happen.
Today, at the meeting of the organizers of the Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage, Christian Marquant commented on the controversy stirred up on social media by people who wish to sow confusion:
1. The request to use the altar of the Chair in St. Peter’s Basilica was made on the day of Bishop Athanasius Schneider’s audience with Pope Leo at the Vatican, on 18 December 2025, ten months and one week before the Pilgrimage.
2. On 7 August, eight months after the request, a negative response arrived from the Secretariat of State of the Holy See. No alternative date was suggested for the Mass, contrary to what's claimed by those people hungry for the limelight.
3. On 8 September, Father Claude Barthe, chaplain of the Pilgrimage, sent a request to the Secretariat of State asking whether the Pilgrimage might enter the Basilica to pray at the tomb of St. Peter, as had happened in the fourteen previous years, even when no Mass was celebrated there: “May we nevertheless, on the coming 24 October, enter the Basilica in procession, pray for the Pope at the Confession, and adore the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of the Chair? The Basilica’s sacristy informs us that this would be possible at 1 p.m., should Your Excellency grant us the necessary permission.”
4. On 30 September, the response was sent by post, delivered a few days later to the Apostolic Nunciature in Paris, and only reached Father Barthe on 12 October, less than two weeks before the Pilgrimage. The response was negative. The pilgrims would not even be allowed to enter the Basilica to pray.
5. This was not disclosed immediately at that time because the organizers still tried to obtain permission for the group to enter the Basilica, given the importance of that gesture and the scandal it would represent for the pilgrims, and for Catholics in general, to be denied entry in the context of a pilgrimage. Since these efforts were unsuccessful, the announcement was made one day before the procession that led the pilgrims to St. Peter’s Square.
6. Christian Marquant lamented the confusion stirred up by people who have no connection whatsoever with this initiative of Catholic faithful, and he emphasized that the Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage has at its heart love for the Pope and for the Catholic Church.
Long live Christ the King! Viva Cristo-Rei!

Our car is in the shop so the only Mass we could get to was a NO Mass. Those are no longer a near occasion of sin for me. They are an actual occasion of sin. First we sang a completely heretical Protestant hymn written by Charles Wesley. Then we had a deacon homily and in 15 minutes he mentioned the following: the Beatles, Bryan Adams. Tina Turner, Taylor Swift and the Swifties, the movie The Notebook, the movie It's a Wonderful Life, Celine Dion, Neil Diamond, Dionne Warwick, and Cupid.
I could not make this up if someone fed me drugs and then put a gun to my head.

AI FEDELI, AI CHIERICI E AI SACERDOTI DELLA XV PEREGRINATIO AD PETRI SEDEM

I asked AI to describe the eyesore called the Obama Library and it did so with stunning accuracy:
“Architecturally, it has all the warmth of a bunker that has just denied your insurance claim.
That enormous gray wall looks less like a finished façade than a concrete rendering waiting for its textures to load. The scattered little windows don’t break up the mass so much as suggest that daylight was allocated by a particularly vindictive committee. And the stepped silhouette gives it the appearance of several utility buildings stacked together during an evacuation.
Then there’s the decorative panel: a little splash of beauty apparently dispatched to rehabilitate several thousand tons of gloom. It’s like putting a silk tie on a filing cabinet. The trees at ground level are doing heroic work, but landscaping cannot negotiate with this much wall. To my eye, this is oppressive, clumsy, and spectacularly unwelcoming—the architectural equivalent of “please remain on hold.”

Every time somebody buys a Gatorade, the University of Florida gets a cut.
It has added up to more than $500 million.
And it all started because a football coach asked a kidney doctor why his players were not going to the bathroom.
Here is the whole thing.
It was the summer the Florida Gators were melting in the heat. Players were landing in the infirmary with heat exhaustion. Guys were losing as much as 18 pounds in a single game.
An assistant coach named Dwayne Douglas took the problem to a doctor at the university named Robert Cade. A kidney specialist.
His question was simple. He wanted to know why his players were losing all that weight and barely going to the bathroom.
Cade figured it out fast. They were sweating so much there was nothing left.
So he and his team tested 10 freshman players. Their blood sugar was low. Their fluids were low. Everything their bodies needed was pouring out of them.
Cade went to work on a drink. Water, salt, sugar, a few other things.
The first batch tasted so bad that none of the doctors could get it down.
His wife, Mary, had an idea. Add lemon juice.
Head coach Ray Graves would not risk his varsity on it. He gave them the freshmen.
So the freshmen got the drink in a scrimmage against the varsity B team. The B team led 13 to 0 at halftime. In the second half the freshmen ran them off the field.
Graves wanted it for the varsity. Right now.
The next day Florida played the LSU Tigers in 102 degree heat. The doctors stayed up all night mixing 25 gallons.
LSU wilted in the fourth quarter. Florida won 14 to 7.
They became known as a second half team.
A little over a year later they played the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Orange Bowl and won 27 to 12. Georgia Tech's coach, Bobby Dodd, was asked what happened.
"We didn't have Gatorade."
They named it after the team.
Today it is everywhere. It is on every sideline, and coaches get it dumped on their heads after wins.
Here is the honest part. Gatorade did not win all those games by itself. Florida also had Steve Spurrier at quarterback, and he won the Heisman Trophy that season.
Cade liked to point out one funny thing about Florida's Heisman winner.
"He drank Coca-Cola."
Cade passed away at 80. He spent the rest of his career at Florida, still teaching and still seeing patients into his 70s.
And the money from that one question is still pouring in. Florida has put it into cancer research, startups, sea turtle conservation and cooler football pads.
All because a coach wanted to know why his players were not going to the bathroom.

The Vatican personnel's decisions about the Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage are among the most petty and vindictive I have ever seen. Having granted permissions, they rescinded them at the last moment.
1. They forced Vespers to begin earlier so that many would miss it.
2. They disallowed the pilgrims from entering St. Peter's in procession to profess their Catholic faith and union with the successor of Peter (!).
3. They declared last-minute that the Mass at St. Mary's could last "only one hour," which, of course, obliterated the carefully planned solemn pontifical Mass.
4. They said "no official photographs," in an echo of Roche's "no listings of the TLM in bulletins."
Such absurd and offensive steps have predictable consequences: they make the Vatican look desperate and out of touch; they alienate and radicalize traditionalists; they rhetorically strengthen the SSPX's case. If the Vatican's desire is to create further division, polarization, and resentment while fueling the traditionalist fire, they have done a brilliant job!
Some theories are circulating online about the Latin Mass pilgrimage, spread by people unconnected with it.
Some clarity below —
Organisers asked for permission for the Vatican Mass, via a letter delivered directly to Pope Leo by Bishop Schneider in December. The pilgrimage is in its 15th year, and is always held on the same date.
Organisers received no answer about the Mass until August, when the Secretariat of State replied to say they could not have Mass in the Vatican. Pilgrimage organisers then announced publicly that no Mass would take place in the Vatican.
Instead, pilgrims would process into the Vatican at 1pm on the Saturday, and then go to St Mary Major for a 3pm Mass. Permission for the procession into the Vatican was granted in April 2026.
Weeks after this, in September, St Peter’s announced an event taking place at 3:30pm at the Altar of the Chair (used by the pilgrimage last year for Mass).
Then this week – just yesterday I am told – organisers received another letter from the Secretariat of State informing them they could not even process into the Vatican as planned, and as permitted since April. Basilica events are not the prerogative of the Secretariat but of the Archpriest & the Fabric of St Peter’s: hence why the Secretariat of State’s involvement is so strange.
On Saturday, pilgrims walked through the streets up to the obelisk in St. Peter’s Square – accompanied by Italian state police – where they were stopped by the Vatican as this was the limit of the Italian police’s jurisdiction.
Then they were informed that their usage of St Mary Major’s had changed: they could only be inside for an hour.
Thus meaning that the planned and authorised pontifical solemn Mass would have to be a low Mass.
Also St Mary Major’s informed pilgrimage that no official photos could be taken
Thank God we did him a favor. He should have spent some of that time figuring out how to beat App State.

“Venite passes lightly over the notion that a society’s fundamental beliefs—its faith—is the central factor in shaping its culture”
A new Vatican document acknowledges an “epochal” problem, but fails to explain why the Church, which spread the Gospel message so successfully in the past, today cannot pass down the faith to younger generations. The document disregards an obvious explanation: Maybe past generations had something that we lack today.

LOL of COURSE they did.
I guess when they said this in the new DDF doc on liturgy, they meant Mariachi and Polka masses, not the liturgy that defined the Church for 1500 years:
"With due respect for the liturgical norms currently in force, pastors are called to highlight the richness of the Catholic liturgical heritage—consider, for example the variety of musical styles that characterize it—in such a way as to enter into contact with the different sensibilities of their contemporaries."
