We all (plus me) need to build some resilience towards taking difficult feedback. It pushes us to grow, and yes, it can come after you have put a lot of time and hard work into something, but learn to step back, measure, then respond if you must.

Can not believe the rest of the world calls Benin Republic🇧🇯 “Benin” not “Beh-neh” like Nigerians call it

Any company policy that requires mental gymnastics and endless ambiguity to interpret has failed and should be revisited. The whole point of a policy is that it should be applied consistently from top to bottom. You cannot create a rulebook and then punish people for abiding by it. All you’re doing is teaching people that the policy handbook is for decoration and that the rules only apply when convenient or when they can be bent to suit whoever has discretionary power. If your personal or cultural preferences override the standard whenever you dislike its application, then you do not have a standard. This is exactly how we end up with the kind of institutional inconsistency we complain about everywhere.
