I am frequently asked about my "no limits" lending policy. Can I say, books in kids' hands are far more useful than books on shelves. You want to read (over gaming/scrolling IG+TikTok)? PLEASE let me help!
I credit and thank @AnitaBK for the nudge

What stories live in these spaces? Loved coming back from Spring Break to see students playing with beautiful story workshop invitations in the Library with Ms. Borthwick! How can opportunities to play with materials allow access points for all our learners? #sd38learn #rtla38

Because of the pandemic, local library is one of my favourite destinations. To my great delight, I rediscovered reading, found pamphlets highlighting local outdoor events and that I could borrow dvds of some of the latest movies.
I love the library.
Love!

Yes, here's a piece that I wrote and shared with parents (adapted for our newsletter) to help them think about our proficiency scale in new ways. medium.com/teachers-on-fire/…

By removing letter-grades and percentages from the picture, we're also getting rid of rank-and-sort.
We're saying goodbye to trophy culture.
Instead, we're saying that we are a learning community.
We pursue proficiency together because we are all developing learners.
