We drilled the concept of ‘ignoring’ down tonight - it’s so pertinent in today’s society and the context of education. While it appears that those who ignore may think or hope the ignored is forgotten, sidelined or unseen, the eagle eyed critical thinkers bring it to the fore 1/2
Wonderful presentation from Darren Chetty @rapclassroom @SAPERE_P4C 24 conference today. Darren told such an engaging story of his work that kept me and @kfleming100 talking and thinking for many hours after- like all great stories do in fact.

2/2 as ever @rapclassroom pulled at the creative and critical strings of our imagination to provoke our questioning of what is seen, considered, whose voices are heard and stories told and what we, the educators, can do about it 💭 @SAPERE_P4C #Inspired #Questioning

it has never been the case that knowledge is a 'dirty word' in education, but it is often the case that children from working-class families are seen as lacking the 'right kind' of knowledge, and that school is a place where they must be remediated for these alleged defects.

There couldn't be a more timely moment to consider the introduction of P4C throughout the school system for all the reasons that Grace has outlined. Let's 'think' before we 'speak'.
The @oracycommission has published its report: ‘We need to talk’. Read SAPERE's response and if you've seen first-hand the power of #P4C, please share. sapere.org.uk/2024/10/why-we…

Learning from others who communicate through modalities that aren’t our own preferential or established communication channels can be perceived as difficult, but how can inclusion happen meaningfully when these channels aren’t explored with curiosity & no ceiling of possibility?

As the new academic year starts, and our 2nd week of the PG course comes to an end, I am moved profoundly by witnessing the thinking, questioning and openness to critically debate the status quo by the students @teacheredshu To be in a place and at a time where these 1/3

Great talk from @Meg_Whitehouse0 at #BERAWERA2024 on the illegal school exclusion of CYP with SEND. Using theories of childism & ethics of care she has found that the production of favourable data in schools is a key driver in the exclusion of CYP who pose a threat to that data

Even in black and white, one can win these the joy, engagement, reciprocity and togetherness of these interactions 💕 it’s all about shifting perspectives, isn’t it? As @elly_chapple would say, #FlipTheNarrative

I got to hang out amongst its pages with my marvellous friend Chlöe, who aged 25, has just added a new word to her vocabulary! She can now say: mumma, row, good girl and yucky! Is conversation difficult if you do not have words? Look at the pictures :-) bloomsbury.com/uk/nurturing-…
