I haven’t posted on here in a while, and won’t post here ever again. Every post I make here now supports Elon Musk’s sociopolitical aspirations, drives up engagement with his platform. I cannot in good conscience stay here anymore.

Also, every post I make here feels like a scream in hell, amongst the wailing damned. Futile. It’s not that way for everyone. Some are able to build coalitions here. I’ve chosen to focus instead on closer relationships with friends, family, and colleagues for my mental health.

I can’t believe Biden signed this TikTok law. 😔 If there’s going to be bipartisan consensus to ignore a Constitutional Amendment, how about the Second?

Recently, I've had a hard time using social media. Posting feels futile or even harmful, responding to posts is worse. I've lost faith in social media. But I want to stay connected. How do you keep your relationship to SM healthy? How do we repair our relationships to SM?

This comes up quite a bit when I talk with my white cishet colleagues. Some of them get overwhelmed (😳) when they realize what justice requires of them. Sometimes I think that's a litmus test: if they don't feel overwhelmed, then they don't understand.

For the record, I feel overwhelmed daily… but I'm comforted by the thought that I'm not alone.

So honored to have contributed to a Grammy nominated soundtrack! Fingers crossed for Stray Gods 🤞
I'm beyond honored to see STRAY GODS nominated at the Grammys, above all because I get to share this with my wonderful friends from @TripodActual and @actualmontaigne. This was a quintessential team effort. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I can't drink without plastic straws. For years I've bought clear ones online (look a bit nicer than kids' ones). Since the straw ban they've got more expensive and now they've disappeared If your environmentalism only affects disabled people, it's not as progressive as you think

Great news: I will be going to Boston in October to hold a public event on the neuroethics of predictive biomarkers for PTSD as part of my Harvard Neuroethics Fellowship. Really looking forward to this!

This experience has made me feel so dejected that I thought clothes would just never fit my body well unless I lost a bunch of weight.
Today I tried on a dress sized L that was comically small, and another sized L that was comically big. This isn't innocent--a lack of consistent sizing makes us feel confused and desperate as consumers, and that much more likely to buy any old garment that vaguely fits our bodies

Find peers and mentors who give support and care. Avoid the ones who confuse antagonism for care.
If you could give one piece of advice to your past self before starting your academic journey, what would it be?

Our synapses are wondrous structures with many parts, and every single part is a molecular target of common (recreational) drugs. This video is a gateway topic between cellular & molecular neurobiology and systems neuroscience. Check it out! Link to full version 👇

I was just reading the last chapter of @DrKeishaRay's book, Black Health, called "Does Where We Sleep Matter?" The section on Environmental Racism was so on point.

I'm trying to return to social media, after quite a long break, but so far all its done is make me feel anxious and dreadful. Especially today with people reacting to Vision Pro: I wonder if they grasp the irony of griping about an MR headset on Twitter for likes and follows. 😵‍💫

(I realize the irony of griping about people griping about a headset for likes/follows. It makes me a little nauseous. I'm not sure it makes most people on here feel that way.)
