So people are being really mean to fic writers for just saying they don’t want to be included in a Google Drive and it’s so… disheartening? Like someone says they have a boundary and then 2k people like a tweet telling them to go fuck themselves makes me just wanna quit.

It’s so odd and disingenuous to me that people act like it’s against the spirit of fandom for writers to want engagement on their fics. The point of fandom is to connect with one another over shared interests. That’s literally what kudos and comments are, I write and you engage ?

I dunno, I just thinks it's interesting how uploading fics to drives is "okay" because it credits the authors, while when if they're told you should get the author's permission first suddenly it's a big deal because how are they supposed to know who the authors are/their socials

as a fic writer you’re forbidden to feel happy when people show you appreciation for your fic, you’re forbidden to hope that people read your fic, and above all don’t forget that YOU didn’t write the fic WE AS A COMMUNITY wrote it together.
