Nintendo announced that they have NO PLANS to end physical game releases🚀
“We have no plans to abandon physical media. We know how much fans also enjoy it.”
What a BASED move being on the right side of history, standing with players!
Now it’s your turn XBOX, and Sony to overturn you decision to end physical media.
Physical games have great demand due to various merits, and they have a place in the future of gaming, the same way Blu-Ray films, music CDs and vinyl and printed books continue to exist.
SAVE PHYSICAL MEDIA

Every generation, they took away a privilege you had for free, and made you pay for it🚀
✅They took away backwards compatibility, and made you either repurchase games digitally, buy their remasters or through PlayStation Plus, even though it’s been proven recently that PS2 and soon PS3 games can run from disc on jailbroken PS5
✅They made you pay for PS+ to be able to play online and to seamlessly transfer saves, even though you could do that with USB before and you can play online for free on PC
✅They normalized games being $70 to justify their fishy hundreds of millions budgets and 7 years bloated development cycles for games that are graphics first; everything else later; even though many $50 games or even $70 with $60 to 100m budgets that were even higher in overall quality and shipped every other year from the likes of Capcom games and Clair Obscur
✅Now they’re trying to gaslight you that discs don’t sell, even though data PROVED them wrong
✅And they’re trying to gaslight you into thinking you don’t need to own your games, so you can stay at the mercy of their store policies and eventually be tied forever to their subscription services
Just because a company makes a “statement” doesn’t mean it’s true.
They CAN lie. They DO lie. For their own benefits, as that’s the only thing that matters to them, while you don’t.
So speak out! Vote with your voice/wallet

Physical media appears to be doing quite well, based on statistics from Ampere Analytics🚀
Multiple games sold over 30-35% or even 45% in physical copies.
Physical media does not lack demand, it lacks support and supply.
✅Many games selling out fast in physical
✅Many discs don’t have full games on
✅Many require internet to play
Physical media needs a healthy supply, whether it’s on one, two or three discs. It doesn’t matter.
Physical media must continue to be support because:
1️⃣It grants ownership
2️⃣It maintains options to players
3️⃣It sustains competition
4️⃣It ensures competitive pricing
5️⃣It prevents reliance on internet/storefronts

What are you waiting for, Sony?🚀
✅Physical game sales proved you wrong, including your own Wolverine, selling 51% and 35% physical in Europe and US, respectively
✅Your former CEO and President Shawn Layden, along with many industry legends and analysts called you out and spoke in support of physical media
✅Countless gamers continue to protest on every post and streamer yours
✅Mainstream media and celebrities echoed our concerns and ridiculed your approach
We are not the minority, you are the minority, and your engineered narrative that physical media is niche has been exposed and called out.
👉So overturn your predatory plan to end physical media
👉Reform your management and fire your CEOs and execs and bring people who value gaming and respect their audience
👉Apologize and let us put this behind us and progress with what’s left of this generation and the next with positivity and mutual respect
This message also applies to XBOX
Physical media must be supported, this generation and the next, and for as long as gaming exists:
🎞️Movies and shows still come to Blu-Ray
💿Music still comes to CD & vinyl
📚Books still come in print
And they all sell incredibly well despite the existence of a very convenient and cost effective digital and streaming alternative.
So let’s move on from the greed and lies
Protect physical media!

Physical media is in demand, and there’s no fake narrative that Sony or their sock-puppet media and fanboys can sell us to think it isn’t🚀
Marvel Wolverine:
🇺🇸35% physical sales in the US
🇪🇺51% physical sales in Europe
Resident Evil Requiem:
🇺🇸22% (to end of June) in the US
🇫🇷55% physial in France
🇯🇵51% in Japan
🇦🇺43% in Australia
🇬🇧40% in UK
Assassin’s Creed Shadows:
🇺🇸US: 26% Physical
🇯🇵Japan: 48% Physical
🇫🇷France: 58% Physical
🇬🇧UK: 45% Physical
🇦🇺Australia: 54% Physical
🇨🇦Canada: 33% Physical
Sony is reportedly surveying studios and collaborators about how they feel about physical media.
Their own favorites for physical disrespects decline in production by only 10%
Which means there’s doubt, and there’s room to overturn this draconian plan.
So keep your voices loud
But physical media

If you go through the comments under this post, it is pretty clear why devs would want physical releases. It is simply another way to sell a game to an audience that will take its money elsewhere, if you don't offer what they want. Sony's plan will directly cost devs money.

Sony LIES to the world that its “hard” to run PS3 games on PS5 so they can make you subscribe for $160 a year to their terrible Classic catalogue🚀
Meanwhile, RPCS3 emulator appears to be running just fine on PS5 Pro.
This the same Sony that lies about discs not selling well, among others things, because their greed knows no bounds💿
Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty running on a jailbroken PS5 Pro through RPCS3
Still kind of ridiculous seeing PS3 emulation running like this on actual PlayStation hardware.

Let’s remind everyone of the dangers of a digital-only future, since some continue to pretend not to know🚀
❌No game ownership
❌No preservation
❌No competition > high prices
❌Regional & dynamic pricing > high prices
❌No refund if a game is removed from PSN
❌Reliance on Sony’s bad customer support
❌Region locked code-in-box games
❌Total reliance on networks/internet
❌64% of the world has no PSN > no games
❌If account is lost > all your games are lost
❌If you move to another country, there is no way to change regions > need to repurchase all your games, per Sony’s terms
And therefore we need discs to remain an option. We need to speak out and vote with our voices and wallets.
No matter how much fanboys screech, no matter how many Sony sock-puppets try to demoralize us, and no matter what paid think-pieces and executive lies try to make it sound like no one wants discs and digital is the future.

Three months ago today, Sony announced their predatory plan to end physical game media, leading to a global outrage that transcended gaming into all media, turning Sony into the subject of resentment and ridicule🚀
Here’s what all-digital future means:
❌No ownership
❌No preservation
❌No options
❌No second hand market or trading
❌Total reliance on internet/networks
❌Price increase on a whim w/o competition
❌Region locked “code in box” games
❌Being at the mercy or Sony’s terms
❌64% of the world lose access to games since they have no dedicated PlayStation Store to their countries
Here’s what Sony did after the outrage:
⬇️Double down, claiming that they’ve “carefully considered” the decision when they didn’t even bother informing their publishing partners according to reports
⬇️Sending players emails reminding them that the terms mean digital games aren’t owned by players
⬇️Ended partnership with Hideo Kojima suddenly mid June, on Metal Gear Solid’s spiritual successor type of action espionage called PHYSINT, which is now being published by XBOX
⬇️Argued in court that players don’t own digital games using a laughable argument pretending to be deliberately obtuse about ownership meaning
⬇️Insisted that players do not deserve any bit of the tariff refunds they received from the US
This has put Sony under such tough criticism due to their total disrespect for players and consumer’s rights:
👉Reports stated that the industry has an negative reaction from the industry causing great resentment towards Sony according ti studios and publishers who spoke with John Linneman or Digital Foundry
👉Reports came up stating that Sony is now surveying studios/publishers regarding how they feel about physical media giving a small hope that the decision could be overturned
Sony has based their entire decision on lies, greed, terrible management and total detachment from gamers and creators desires, and global markets:
✅Multiple games sold 40-50% physical in markets like UK, France, Japan and Australia
✅Per documents that surfaced, the industry calculates DLC, microtransactions, digital only and free to play games as “digital sales” which inflates their numbers
✅Various mainstream media outlets like NBC have reported on the matter, interviewing those speaking on the negatives of a digital only future, so this isn’t a niche internet outrage
✅Music, film, shows and books continue to be produced on physical media despite the existence of the digital alternative far more conveniently
✅Several industry legends have spoken in support of physical media, and expressed disappointment with ending it, including:
🫡Hideo Kojima
🫡Shuji Utsumi – SEGA President & COO
🫡Dan Houser – Rockstar Co-Founder
🫡Sohei Niikawa – Disgaea Creator
🫡Josh Fairhurst – Limited Run Co-Founder
🫡Yoko Taro
🫡Naoki Hamaguchi – FFVIIR Director
🫡Jean-Luc Mélenchon – French Politician
🫡GOG – spoke in support ownership of games as a must, digital and physical
Physical video game media must continue to be produced. We must speak out and never give up.
This is our most basic right as consumers to vote with our voices and wallets.
