One of Haskell’s designers has spent nine years building Cardano
Philip Wadler is one of the principal designers of Haskell, the programming language that powers @Cardano’s core. The University of Edinburgh also credits his work with shaping Java, Go and Swift.
He joined @IOGroup in 2017. There he co-created Plutus, the platform that runs Cardano smart contracts, with Manuel Chakravarty.
In 2023 Wadler was made a Fellow of the Royal Society, joining a roll of fellows that includes Isaac Newton and Alan Turing.
His recent papers cover Plinth, the Haskell-based language for writing Cardano contracts, and ways to prove those contracts work as intended.

The IMF apparently sees tokenised RWAs as a potential bank run risk? 🤭
But let's talk about WHY T+1 and T+2 settlement exists.
Traditional finance forces traders to wait days for THEIR OWN money to settle. Meanwhile, financial institutions can profit from the capital tied up in the system.
I get it. RWAs are eating their lunch. 😂
But a bank run? That's a convenient narrative.
Instant settlement will dramatically reduce the capital tied up in the settlement process.
And guess what? If you want access to your own money before (the bank) settlement, you may have to pay interest to "borrow" money that's already yours. 🤣
So who is the IMF really protecting here?

Cardano’s presence at #TOKEN2049 was money perfectly spent. Major exchanges and other crypto companies made a huge mistake this year by listening to marketing advisors and filling their booths with massive branded gift bags. All they managed to do was attract endless lines of merch hunters who couldn’t care less about anything else. Huge traffic, zero quality. And what did @Cardano get? The best location, the best-designed booth, and two nonstop days of leaders, founders, co-founders, community members, presentations, conversations, networking, and partnerships being formed. Thousands upon thousands of people stopped, engaged, and connected.
@F_Gregaard did an incredible job. He was at the booth, talking to everyone, giving each person a few minutes of his time. The @Cardano_CF team in Singapore was absolutely incredible: kind, welcoming, helpful, and a true source of pride for this project. People from all over the world who thought #Cardano was dead had the opportunity to see with their own eyes that THE KING IS STILL ALIVE! Across all five floors and among hundreds of exhibitors, Cardano showed everyone how it’s done. While others were handing out bags to merch hunters, Cardano showed the world that its time has come. The time for BIG things.
I’m proud that I never turned my back on this project, on $ADA, on these people, or on the future we’re building together. While others are heading home carrying five-foot-tall bags full of merchandise, we’re heading home with something far more valuable: the feeling that THIS IS OUR MOMENT ❤️

TOKEN2049 Singapore Recap 🇸🇬
What a week for Cardano and Masumi at TOKEN2049!
A few personal highlights:
1. Cardano absolutely dominated the conference.
The Cardano booth was, in my opinion, by far the best booth at TOKEN2049. Great location, great energy, and tons of people stopping by throughout the event. Really impressive to see.
2. Masumi took over the hackathon.
Out of roughly 200 hackers, an estimated 140+ ended up building on Masumi. That's pretty crazy.
I think a huge part of this success comes down to Sandro from Masumi and Bora from the CF, who were incredibly available and actively supported developers throughout the entire hackathon.
Combined with the largest prize pool, this made a real difference.
3. We got to showcase Masumi twice.
First, we presented Masumi and our AI CMO agent at the Cardano booth, showing what autonomous AI agents can actually do.
Then I had the opportunity to pitch Masumi in just 3 minutes at the Draper Dragon event overlooking Marina Bay.
Both went really well, and it was great to see the interest in what we're building.
Huge thanks to everyone involved, especially the Cardano Foundation team, for making this happen.
Excited for what's next! 🚀
