It was fun to dust off my domain industry chops and dig into the nitty gritty of TLD applications, trademark, and well... asshattery. #wordpress folks pay attention. If you think what's happening with @wpengine is ugly this would make it worse medium.com/@kelliepeterson/a… @wpdrama

How much of a narcissist does one have to be to go from trying to snap up all the matt.TLD options and of course MA.TT to spending $227k USD on a fucking vanity TLD? Christ. But please, cry about how private equity is crushing you. here's my tiny violin.

mShots is an Automattic joint, no? Should an unauthenticated screenshot service allow arbitrary JavaScript running in its browser to make essentially unrestricted outbound network requests? Not the first time Automattic has been exploited though. Eh? swarmtraces.org/

Interesting choices. I do love me some Wool/Silo and no shade to Howey, but I'm not sure that his background in computer repair, roofing, audio tech, bookstore clerk, and professional yacht captain makes him an ideal board member. techcrunch.com/2026/09/25/au…

But this seems like a MASSIVE downgrade in leadership. But I guess Matt got what he wanted - people who are loyal to him. Bra-fucking-oh, @photomatt you really are the smallest man who ever lived. Meanwhile those pesky antitrust claims are allowed to stand. Bless. Good luck!

From TC: Internal slack announcement of interim CFO ends with @photomatt saying: I have 100% confidence in our cash and financial position... There is still work to do, but everything is within our control and depends only on Automattic’s ability to execute.” #wpdrama

TechCrunch’s severance story raises an important question: who actually authorized these agreements? “Davies and Missan signed each other’s severance deals” sounds dramatic. But signing a corporate agreement is not the same thing as approving the compensation. 1/8 #wpdrama

That doesn’t prove Automattic’s board approved these agreements. But it does mean “they signed each other’s agreements” tells us who signed them — not necessarily who authorized them. That distinction seems pretty important.

Which brings me back to the leak. The source had severance agreements, an HR equity document and info on current legal deliberations. Did they also have board approvals? If yes, were those shared? If no, we still don’t know who authorized the deals. But something smells.
