✨ DIRECTORIAL DEBUT ✨ I have the honor of being one of the VO directors of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 사. It's an immense honor. One that will mark a significant forward-step in my career. Thank you for taking a chance on me, giving me a shot, and allowing me to contribute.

It is very easy to feel this way but my gentle reminder is that I’ve had almost no issues asking for accommodations, most (97%) clients and studios have been so accommodating to me. Everything I’ve been in so far has been remotely as an accommodation for me. It is possible!
Looks like it's time for us to wrap it up, though let's be real. Major Studios moved from Remote Recording back in 2022. Now we're lucky if we even get the audition from them

Don't give up! It's not always per studio, it's mostly per project! I work in VO production and there are still AAA and Indies alike that record remotely. Some huge titles I've worked on are sometimes mostly remote. One recent project was exclusively remote. Keep reading! ⬇️🧵

3. Especially for JP companies have VERY SPECIFIC IP rules. Be mindful of those! 4. Some projects HATE when you add your headshot. So always ask! 5. Be grateful in your posts. I recommend to not be so self-absorbed. You were part of a team after all! 🛑 End of Thread

⚠️Regarding VA Annoucements 1. ALWAYS ask for permission and guidelines. Use APPROVED images! 2. Creating "official-looking" graphics isn't always OKAY. If it's unofficial with their logo, but pretends to be official, the studio may not be happy. 🧵⬇️ Keep reading

Hopping onto Kyle's post: In my experience working in VO production, if the remote actor is set up with a remote engineer, the actor's locally recorded audio files will be used as a primary, while the engineer's is the back up. So definitely please record on your end!
If you're doing VO gigs remotely, connect on time (or a few minutes early if ya can), have the fastest internet you can afford (fiber optic if it's available). Have all your scripts etc open before starting. It's wise to record a backup on your end, even if they don't ask.

To remote VA’s from your LA friend - I’ve been hearing more talk about moving away from remote actors because of quality issues, professionalism, and dropouts during sessions! DON’T BE THE BAD🍎THAT RUINS IT FOR EVERYONE! So many of you are talented. Don’t lose out bc of setup!

voice acting isn’t usually spooky, but in a session yesterday, the engineer’s computer played two random audio files without being prompted, one of which said “I am going to rest now.” then, he got a static shock from his desk, which made one of his monitors turn off 👻

I think what gets missed here is the *ability to relocate is privilege. Not in some shameful blamey way but genuinely, wow, what a baller ability to not have your finances suffer catastrophically by the cost of moving, the cushion needed to stop work to move, and the support needed to maintain all of that while you set back up to resume freelance while trying to connect with the professional community in your new location, who may or may not want you there. Add the physical toll of a move to that and it’s easy to see it’s not a matter of dedication. Some people just don’t have the means, the *ability to relocate If you can stay in your feet through those hurdles, what a genuine flex you have to be stable. Respect. Ableism comes into play when anyone asserts those privileges to others who just don’t and can’t have that execution and when anyone expects or demands those executions in order to have the same quality of life and equal *access to opportunity. I’m preaching to the choir I know, but on the chance there is even one person who has not thought of it this way… No you’re not responsible for someone’s disability or their opportunity, but at some point, gatekeeping, and perpetuating obstacles does make you accomplice to making survival harder for someone who is just trying to live. At some point it does become engineered. They’re not stealing from you, and if your career feels threatened by a disabled person, please check your heart Relocating is a privilege, demanding it, despite skill and infrastructure is about ablism and control, which is not an accusation. But you see how this looks… right? tip: Don’t out yourself by saying the good thing you did in the comments
I genuinely cannot stress this enough but it is frustrating, invalidating, and dehumanizing to have to argue that my location doesn’t make me any less dedicated/ hard working/ talented than my able bodied peers. Disabled voice actors ARE just as talented, dedicated as our peers

Today was the 3rd time in my career a power outage hit mid AAA game session. But it’s why I record on a laptop, a laptop-powered interface, & a mobile hotspot. Studios that hire disabled talent from home won’t be inconvenienced on my watch! 😆 So grateful & can’t wait to share!

I am so truly grateful to the studios, clients, directors, casting directors, & engineers who have accommodated myself and my peers. To those who have taken the time to discuss how we can make this industry more accessible with myself and DVAD, thank you!
