The idea that the progressive bloc in the UK electorate can be reunited behind Labour is for the birds. The left now has an electoral force in the Green Party, which can take a significant number of urban seats. The Lib Dems remain the anti-Tory/Reform option in many suburban and rural areas. The SNP and Plaid remain dominant in much of their countries.
So Labour cannot assemble the whole coalition—if there is a progressive government after the 2029 election it will most probably need the support of more than one party, perhaps of several.

Ahead of party’s conference in Liverpool she tells @jessicaelgot Labour is beginning to get a hearing again and should not be embarrassed to show its values clearly.
