As a veteran video game dev - very few people in the industry have been a hands-on contributor to games as long as I. So, naturally, have stories from the trenches. :) As the Design Lead on Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, I touched everything on every map/level, etc. nothing escaped my grasp Back in the day some of us devs used to have .plan or finger files - also called 'worklogs' that we updated to let people out on the internet know what we were working on. It was a different time. We took them SUPER seriously. This was my first ever entry during this development cycle: WORKLOG ----------------------------------------------- April 9 2001 Lead meeting Wrote up beginning objectives list Planned Cairn overview with Steve and Kevin (most of day) Roughed out Doomgiver dock in Cairn Pushed around wheel of pain for a while Pina colada break --------------- Below was my last worklog entry, as they kind of fell out of fashion but also, legal reasons, since we were working on such a huge IP. :) I never did destroy Bob... ----------------------------------------------- January 6th (2002) (I updated my worklog...!) Dear outside world Camp Raven is fine...but the kids in the next cabin keep stealing our canoe and hiding it in the woods. Today we had fish sticks. I must destroy Bob. -------------- If people are interested and this gets enough likes, I'll post the whole year of entries.
