Another reason they belong on in the small group of companies that @ituc has named Corporate Underminers of Democracy. Amazon, in fact, is the only one named every year: ituc-csi.org/corporate-under…
Not only does @amazon consistently lead the warehouse industry in workplace injuries, with injury rates roughly double the national average, and ranks among the top corporations that forces its workers to utilize Medicaid and food stamps due to poverty wages, Amazon is also now using AI to track workers and rank how likely they are to form unions. seiu.co/3Ub5soY

Since Amazon last made the @ituc #CorporateUnderminders list, the company appears to have been busy grinding away at the pillars of democracy and bending economies to its will. #MakeAmazonPay

For Palestinian workers, olive trees are jobs, income, history and dignity.
In the occupied West Bank, ITUC General Secretary Luc Triangle met Ahmad, a Palestinian olive farmer.
Ahmad described repeated attacks by Israeli settlers, including the theft of his tractor and physical violence.

New York police just threw newly elected Congresswoman Darializa Avila Chevalier to the ground. It didn’t faze her one bit. She got right back up, shielded the people behind her, told them to let a girl go (they did), and demanded they back up (they did).
The fight for democracy needs the leadership of working-class women✊
Young women trade union leaders from across the Pacific came together to discuss organising, climate change, migration and more.
In Fiji, gender parity has transformed union leadership from 100% men to 50% women.
More women leading means stronger unions and stronger democracy.

For Melba Tampakan (ALU/TUCP), organising #PlatformWorkers doesn’t begin by talking about the union. It begins by listening to workers, understanding their realities and building trust.

This Austin ICE shooting is pretty incredible. They smashed the DoorDash driver's car. They shot the driver in the back. They pull them out of the car. Tear open his shirt. Confirm he's been shot. Take him to the hospital. Remove him 4 hours later with the bullet still in him and bring him to detention center for questioning, refusing to tell his family where he is. Apparently he's still there with the bullet in him today, without pain meds, without seeing his family, without seeing counsel, and with ICE doing its own investigation into itself.
A man was shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Austin, Texas, on Sunday, according to the Austin Police Department, prompting protests at the scene and backlash from local officials.
