So it’s a wee bit of a leap over to the 🦋 place, where I’ve got 70 followers rather than 33,000, but some of the nicest people are already there and I hope more friends give it a try. See you there for the Sunday caption contest, my name there is also @GirlsOwn

In Japanese legend, the city of Nagoya had a demon cat (“bakeneko”) who liked to put a napkin on his head and dance. My cats have done far stranger things, tbh. #FolkloreThursday

Something to ponder as you head out to vote today, for free. In the Library's Rosa Parks Papers collection, there's a receipt for the poll tax she had to pay to vote in Alabama in 1956. Poll taxes, a Jim Crow-era voter suppression tool, were not abolished federally until 1964.

Voter: I am a Republican that’s no longer registered. Your inaction during your presidency was a little disturbing to me. What happened during January 6th and the fact that you waited so long to take action while your supporters were attacking the Capitol. Coronavirus, I thought the public was misled and many more lives could’ve been saved.. I’m curious how people close to you in your administration don’t want to support you so why would I support you? Your own VP doesn’t want to support you.

Josh Rosenfeld, a supply chain specialist dressed as a big brown horse, seemed bemused at being asked how people felt about the election, but he politely tilted his muzzle and answered, “Yes, there’s a lot of anxiety here.” nytimes.com/2024/11/04/us/po…
