As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.

Praying for all the journalists risking their lives tonight just so the public can see the truth of what’s happening in the Senate.
There is no substitute for a free press. No alternative to people willing to stand in the middle of chaos so the country can witness the truth in real time.

Still one of the greatest moments in Nobel history.

We need to support our investigative journalists and the community of citizen monitors and professionals who check abuses of power.
It is unacceptable that Dwight and Kaycee needed to spend P30,000 for their probe on Cong. Zaldy Co.
We need SEC documents to be free and open!

Thanks to our friend Ken Abante for flagging at a Senate hearing a struggle we journalists face: SEC docs aren’t free.
We spent P30K on Zaldy Co files last year via SEC Express. ESearch is cheaper at P375/doc, but costs still pile up.
If we want transparency, why the paywall?

Zaldy Co's son Ellis distances himself from his father's alleged corruption and urges him to come home even 'if he gets disowned.'
Rappler's review of SEC docs in March found Ellis is a top shareholder of Sunwest's sister companies, e.g. Embarcadero, Misibis.

meanwhile the engineers:
"United Architects of the Philippines strongly condemns the misuse of the word architect in describing masterminds of corruption or crime. "
Initially I thought it was a satire or joke. 😊 But it's real. I get their point that such use gives a negative connotation. However a word has different meanings based on different context.

I hope what does not get lost in this pay-per-story conversation is the fact that journalists resort to legitimate side hustle to augment income (as I do, e.g teaching, writing for journals, etc). So if you ask a journo to give a seminar, a training, write for your pub, pay them.
