As a former CBC reporter, I am appalled at this ludicrous decision. He wasn’t working. He posted a POV video experience entering the space his synagogue had rented for Yom Kippur. Neil is a veteran reporter and a friend.
I don’t understand why this CBC journalist is facing disciplinary action. He describes facing threats while attending a synagogue service and provides context with rise of antisemitism, terror attack and guest speaker. Thread is accurate. What’s the issue? xitter.cf/NEWSneil/status/210220…

I'm a journalist. And I happen to be Jewish. On Yom Kippur I went to a synagogue service in Toronto and was met by protesters trying to taunt and intimidate me from entering the building. 1/5

This is sickening that this keeps happening in Canada
Sickened by this criminal attack on a Montreal kosher restaurant overnight. Montreal Police are investigating this arson as a possible hate crime and I hope the evidence leads to a swift arrest and conviction of those responsible. I stand with all Canadians who are appalled by these criminal acts targeting Jewish Canadians and Jewish-owned businesses. Police and prosecutors have my full support in bringing those responsible to justice.

I keep saying, “this one went too far.” At this point it would almost be funny if it weren’t so damn horrifying. This week, two Jewish owned bakeries (Kiva’s) in Toronto were targeted. Now Noam, where my parents and sister go every week for kosher food, has been destroyed by a fire. 88% of Jewish Canadians feel less safe than five years ago. One in four has considered leaving or made plans to. These are not random incidents. This is the reality I wrote about months ago. This is not anxiety. This is evidence.

Stop saying: "Antisemitic hate has no place in our community." Start saying: "Antisemitic hate has tragically gained a large, persistent, and potential deadly place in our community - and we all need to do some deep introspection on how and why it happened."
#NEW: Toronto police are investigating after two locations of Jewish-owned Kiva’s bagel bar were targeted in separate incidents Sunday morning, including one where a window was struck by gunfire. Full story: cp24.com/local/toronto/2026/…

Kiva was my grandmother’s first cousin. Sold years ago but bakeries keep his name. Both were holocaust survivors. Never imagined the relentless antisemitic violence would come to Canada with too many silent on the sidelines or quick to gaslight or excuse.

Don’t ever normalize this. Not in Toronto. Not anywhere. Standing with my Jewish friends today and always.
We are investigating two incidents that occurred this morning at separate locations of the same Jewish-owned bakery chain. One location was struck by gunfire, while the second sustained damage to a window. At this time, investigators are examining whether the incidents are connected and working to identify those responsible. There have been no reported injuries. The Hate Crime Unit and the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-2222.

We are aware of very disturbing reports that the police are investigating suspected hate motivated attacks at a Jewish-owned bakery, Kivas bagel bar - including one being shot at near Yonge and St. Clair. No injuries have been reported. We’ve reached out to Toronto police and they have our support as they pursue their investigation.

Canada’s March to the Match continues to work its way through the Toronto streets toward the stadiums. Beautiful scenes as fans chant and cheer and high five fans who are lining the streets. It’s going to be electric inside the stadium today.

This criminal violence against the Jewish community and Jewish-owned businesses is downright deplorable. Gunfire on our streets and antisemitic terrorizing of our friends and neighbours should outrage us all. Grateful to see @TorontoPolice in action and hope those responsible are found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. – at Toronto, Ontario
