The whole Caitlin Clark issue is that she entered the WNBA with her own massive, die-hard fanbase, probably bigger than the league’s existing fanbase. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers have also brought more eyes to the league, but Caitlin brought the most. Players drafted from 2024 onward grew up in this social-media era, so they understand how to operate in this new environment. That’s why you hear more complaints from older players.
I don’t blame players like A’ja Wilson or Alyssa Thomas; they simply didn’t have much time to adjust to how much the league has changed. In just one year, the WNBA went from being a league with a dedicated following to becoming a true fan-driven league. This is a transition. Caitlin isn’t doing anything wrong, there are simply more eyes on the WNBA now.
