people hate aang’s joy and optimism in atla and say he’s one dimensional but he clearly uses it to mask his trauma and pain of being the sole survivor of genocide as we see at moments during the show and the central conflict in the aang movie/book

Unfortunately a lot of critiques about Aang fall flat for me because if you were the last person of your entire race (basically overnight) you would not be nearly as well adjusted as he was.
