The big selling point for the BM1373 is efficiency which: 1) doesn’t really matter for home mining applications, we’re talking about a few bucks per month and 2) isn’t being utilized anyway, since efficiency immediately goes out the window once these devices are overclocked to reach advertised hashrates. The Zyber 12G, which looks like if Ferrari designed a mechanized snail, will achieve over 20TH/s at a *lower* cost per TH than any BM1373 miner currently available. All the attention right now is on BM1373 miners, but if you’re after higher hashrates and reliability 1370’s are the way to go.

For the past several months I’ve been encouraging @hammerminer and others to build the first profitable desktop miner to exist—a Zcash miner. The proposed two-chip miner specs: 92ksol/s 335w 750usd This hypothetical device would currently be profiting $180/mo with a four month ROI which is currently unheard of in home mining. @hammerminer has been reluctant citing concerns that there’s not enough interest. Is profitability not a motivating factor for home miners? Would you buy one?

Hey @grok why did Zcash pump 22% in the past 24 hours? Are there any meaningful use cases or an increase in transactions on the network, or are influential billionaire crypto bros just hyping it to multiply their filthy stinkin’ fiat bucks?

Every morning I check @AtlasPool_io to see if one of these things finally did it. Sometimes I imagine what I’d do when I see a block-winning share reported; laugh hysterically, refresh the screen, check my wallet, shout happy obscenities, check mempool, then pick up my wife and swing her around in celebration. I’d repeat these steps 20-30 times (at minimum.) Even though it hasn’t happened yet, I’m incredibly grateful for my little army of SHA-256 daydream machines working 24/7 make it happen.
