2 years ago i joined crypto VC and i quickly learned the difference between nice and not so nice people breaking in as a woman was very tough in this closed boys club, especially in asia. i didn't come from the right schools, or the right tradfi circles i've had the worst experiences like male VCs trying to drug my drink at parties, talking about my body measurements in group chats, forwarding my questions around in group chats and mocking me behind my back. taunting me as not being 'smart' enough for the industry i tried to reach out to many peers whom i thought would understand as they were in a similar position as me, but many of them turned their backs and joined the other side except for a good few, who were always kind and welcoming even when i had nothing to offer them as an associate. we were never more than acquaintances at best, because i was so scarred from the industry after starting out as a founder a few months back and now coming out to raise our seed round, i got reconnected with these folks and they are still as nice and kind as i remember them to be, even when i (still) don't have much to offer them be a decent human being. in time to come people wouldn't remember how 'smart' you are, or how many 'bros' got you into your private / pre-sale / rug rounds. they'll instead remember how you made them feel, and i don't know about you, but i truly believe that what goes around comes around end of rant
