It was a pleasure to be at the Inclusive Human-Centric Summit and engage with the theme, “Willful Evolution – Thriving through Polycrisis” in Delhi today.
In a world marked by rapid technological change, economic uncertainty, social transformation and geopolitical turbulence, the real challenge is not to stop change, but to choose how we respond to it.
I congratulate the entire Ask Insights team, The Times of India and all participating organisations for convening this timely summit. May the deliberations inspire us to build institutions where people can truly flourish.

Fifteen years ago, @UN_Women's Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces initiative began with a simple but transformative idea: women and girls must help shape the cities they live in.
Today, the initiative spans more than 75 cities in 36 countries, with New Delhi among its five founding cities. The lesson from 15 years of action is clear: safety cannot be an afterthought. It must be built into how cities are planned, designed, governed and financed — from streets and public transport to markets, services and digital public spaces. As this important article from
@the_hindu highlights, designing cities with women, not simply for women, is essential. Women’s lived experiences, evidence and leadership must inform decisions from the start so that mobility expands choices rather than limits them.
As we mark 15 years of progress, our task is to turn this learning into the cities of tomorrow — through sustained political will, investment and partnership among governments, city authorities, women’s rights organizations, communities, researchers and the private sector. Women and girls are not only users of our cities. They are partners in designing their future.

India cannot realise its potential without far greater participation of women in the workforce.
And that requires investing in the care economy—childcare, eldercare and family support.
