It’s the last day of Pride month, and since the realities of being from central FL mean my story won’t be published, I’m sharing it now myself:

jordan (like many other trans louisianans) has had their gender affirming health care taken away by our maga government. they had top surgery scheduled to be completely covered by louisiana medicaid, but the state legislature passed a law blocking medicaid from covering all transition related surgeries. they now have to pay out of pocket. please help out if you are able 💜

FLASH POLL Do you approve of Ron DeSantis, NAME? YES >> NO >> JUST THIS ONE TIME >>
Republican Governor Ron DeSantis says that Florida does not welcome Andrew Tate and his brother, following news of them flying to Florida from Romania: "No: Florida is not a place where you're welcome with that type of conduct. Our Attorney General, James Uthmeier, is looking into what state hooks and jurisdictions we have to deal with this.”

we don’t “encourage” others to not be antiblack/queermisic in supposed “safe spaces”. we REQUIRE them to be. so why is REQUIRING the safety of disabled people viewed as “policing”? if you want to be called in/out when you do harm, why do you feel “insulted” when i do? /rhetorical

i will die on the hill that masking & cleaning the air are *crucial* in community care, not “optional”. part of the problem is people don’t see disableism on the same scale as other forms of marginalization. they don’t see it as something that impacts EVERYONE in the “community”.

My entire scientific career I have been cautioning against climate doomerism. It’s dangerously unhealthy for young people and leads into apathy. Humanity won on ozone depletion. Much of the world has been successful on acid rain and air pollution. Climate is winnable.
not to be barbie but how do you guys cope with the growing sense of dread that the world is legitimately going to end in our lifetimes and everything you know and love will collapse into chaos

So many ppl mourning him, how many would wear a mask for him while he was here? How many would make public spaces accessible for him as a medically vulnerable person while he was here? Fight for his right to exist, to live, to make art while he was here? Rest in peace, legend
BREAKING: David Lynch says it is unlikely he will direct again due COPD diagnosis and the risk of COVID. For his sake and the sake of millions of others like him, wear a mask 😷 independent.co.uk/arts-enter…

If you’re still masking - thank you. If you help others mask - thank you. If you understand the benefit of a well fitted respirator - you’re awesome. Masking isn’t just a way to safeguard one’s health. It’s an act of solidarity with disabled & marginalized communities.

I’m so glad my family decided to become anti-vax AFTER I became an adult. These idiots would’ve killed me as a kid with asthma.

"17 white transgender in a room" - you are not worried about that for the same reason I am. but here's the cruel truth: Trans is most often white because of survivor's bias - all the others are even more likely to be rejected by world and dead.

I was supposed to go visit my dad and he said he would take a combo COVID/flu test but now he’s refusing to, which means as an immunocompromised person I can’t see him. I will never forgive Republicans for politicizing the very concept of communicable diseases.

He says he wants to see me but I put too many “restrictions” on things. I’m sorry my immune system won’t protect me as well as yours. Im sorry I can’t afford to get sick before my surgery next month. I’m sorry and I know I will spend my entire life apologizing for being disabled

I’m 25 and I’ve been thinking about this for almost a decade. I *wanted* to be one, at one point, but I’ve realized: Every “Dem youth influencer” is inherently going to be out of touch 🧵

And thus, some youth orgs ultimately start with good intentions and devolve into grifts — they become pyramid schemes of this type of young person getting money to go to events to get in front of politicians to recruit more young people to go to events to “make a difference”
