How long will the repairs on the Kira Rd stretch frm Mulago Roundabout to Kira Rd Police Station take? That stretch is about 3km, now in 3rd year of works, approx a year per km! Low Productivity & Efficiency is the biggest cause of escalation of costs on any construction project

Seeing Kiira Buses bt trouble is I don’t know the places they go through! In this country whoever tries to do public transport avoids using route numbers! Is there a reason for this? If everyone knew Bus No.4 goes thru Bukoto, Ntinda, Najjeera to Kitukutwe, it wd be much easier.

Mengo Hospital was established in 1897 and it is believed that its most famous structure built in brick-and-mortar - the St. Luke and St. Katherine was constructed during this period!

Available records show that oldest building in Kampala (the 5 divisions) is Zakariya Kisingiri House in Mengo built in 1895! (Photograph not mine)

However though not built in brick and mortar and originally constructed in 1882 as a palace for Kabaka Mutesa I, this massive circular thatch-and-barkcloth structure known as Muzibu Azaala Mpanga - a masterpiece of indigenous Buganda architecture should be the oldest!

The 1966 Crisis left some of our parents jobless, just like the retrenchment exercise of post 1986 did to some parents! I was there in 1986 and saw first hand what happened….. when I landed on this letter in an uncle’s documents, I sought to hear how he dealt with that time
