The Sun lying about the Green Party, as standard, here. Most Green Party groups have meetings at pubs, and not a single meeting I have been to has had everybody state their pronouns at the beginning. This is the kind of thing that reduces trust in the press.

I think the Green Party should fully lean into support for PR as a way to divide the Labour Party.
EXC: Labour divided over Andy Burnham’s plan for electoral reform Cabinet figures including Louise Haigh, Angela Rayner and John Healey sceptical of reform Several Labour MPs tell me they do not support a proportional voting system One MP says the prospect of relying on the Greens to govern makes them ‘physically sick’ w/ @matilda__martin politicshome.com/news/articl…

Sure, it cuts through, but like a lot of paternalistic government policies, bans and fines are not much use without enforcement. You can get a £5,000 fine for flytipping, but it happens everywhere because there's no enforcement by underfunded councils.
This sort of policy cuts right through by the way. Anti social behaviour on public transport is one of those symbolic things people associate with decline. Smart, simple politics.

Never has the concept of Liberal Zionism looked more absurd and contradictory. It almost makes you feel sorry for people who simply can't accept the evidence before their eyes that the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians was inevitable from the very beginning of Zionism. As Theodor Herzl wrote in his diary on June 2nd 1895: “We must expropriate gently the private property on the estates assigned to us. We shall try to spirit the penniless population across the border by procuring employment for it in the transit countries, while denying it employment in our own country. The property owners will come over to our side. Both the process of expropriation and the removal of the poor must be carried out discreetly and circumspectly.”
“settlers are undermining the settler project” guys we’re reaching levels of liberalism heretofore thought impossible

There is a trade off between data centres and renewable energy in terms of securing grid connections. Data centres should obviously not be prioritised.

This is incitement to violence against gender-nonconforming people. She is telling women to attack anyone they think doesn't look female enough for their liking.
Men using female toilets is unlawful. A woman has a right to confront any man who breaks the law. Enough is enough. Our public institutions have to stop this nonsense and apply the law.

Oh no did your friend Sir Henry Bombsgalore OBE get paint on his house while he was just innocently manufacturing drone parts for war crimes?

Alex Armstrong posted his apology to Mothin Ali at 12:46am, hoping to bury it while everyone was asleep. Instead, the people of twitter spotted it and amplified it even harder. Fucking hold that. @Alexarmstrong
On 19 July 2024, I published two posts on my X account in which I made allegations about Mr Mothin Ali being involved in the Harehills riots. I have accepted these were incorrect and I have jointly made a statement in open Court in order to apologise to Mr Ali and correct the record which is below. archive.org/details/JSIOC-MA…

A new direct action group in the UK 🇬🇧 calling itself "The List" says it targeted the homes of employees of weapons manufacturers that work with Israel's 🇮🇱 Elbit Systems. Specifically, it claims that over the weekend, it targeted the homes of the COO of Ultra I&C, the director of Keysight Technologies, and a key engineer at Leonardo UK.

Labour once again doing stuff that impresses right wing Tories.
I’m actually impressed by this from Labour, well done. Absolutely the right thing to do.

Any gender-critical weirdo still confused why every single meaningful vote in womens groups, organisations or unions chooses trans inclusion and rejects gender-critical misogyny, countingdeadwomen just demonstrated with aplomb, abusing a murdered cis women they thought was trans.
29 September 2026: Hayley Marson, 33, was found dead at a property in Hogsthorpe, Lincolnshire. John Scott, 52, and John Welby, 65, have been charged with her murder.

I don't think anybody's going to take lessons on racism in public life from someone like Neil Coyle.
Hope Southwark LibDems eventually find a backbone and seek something similar - and publish the “reassurances” they claim to have received from their Green Coalition partner.

Trans people need to be kept out of women's wards in case my bigoted mother goes crazy and attacks them.
Replying to @Welshcake74
My mother wasnt well and wouldn’t have seen it like that. She didn’t need protecting from the trans person but she would have lost it and been insulting and rude. It was uncomfortable for everyone. So, while I am GC I can understand everyone’s situation. This is why it’s right.

This is such a cynical thing to do that exposes how Labour is only seeking to use Jewish people to score political points.
NEW: Labour will break council coalitions with Greens unless local groups disown Zionism is racism position: "Local agreements will cease unless local groups disown the policy and tell national leadership to do the same."

I suppose they could discuss this with the Jewish leader of Lambeth Green Party who left Labour after Antisemitic prejudice due to his criticism of Labour’s support for Israel.
Last night, we called on Lambeth Green Party to condemn their national policy and reassure Jewish residents they are safe and welcome in Lambeth. So far they have refused to do so. We have a duty to build bridges not walls between the communities we are elected to represent.

I would personally say this is Antisemitic because it conflates Zionism with Judaism.
Tonight, we’ve asked the Leader of Lambeth Council to write publicly to Jewish groups and publish a statement distancing the council from the divisive national Green Party motion classifying Zionism as racism.

Actually Lambeth spent a lot of time this week talking about ending the wasteful contract with Serco who are responsible for all the litter, but Noa has not bothered to read any of the council papers like I have, and is only interested in point scoring.
Anyone who has been around Brixton station of late will be aware that the area is covered in litter. Bins are overflowing, there is a severe homelessness issue and it's crackhead/anti-social behaviour galore. So, shall we check in on what Lambeth Council will be spending time discussing at its meeting this evening? Well! Tonight Lambeth Council, led by a Green-Lib Dem coalition is due to discuss Motion 3 (Green Group): Palestine – End the Genocide, Complicity and Impunity. "This motion condemns Israel's actions in Gaza, calls for an immediate ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and the release of hostages. It also calls on the UK Government to halt arms exports, impose economic sanctions, and provide evidence to the International Criminal Court. It further proposes that the Council review its contracts and investments to divest from companies complicit in violations of international law." Note they haven't even been bothered to update the language still referencing hostages... This is Lambeth Council's priority while some of the worst crime and antisocial behaviour in London is happening as we speak within its boundaries.

MPs have never been interested in technology. These are the same people who used to go around saying 'cyber is the next big thing' and things like that.
Today I went to a select committee hearing on AI. A few interesting things came out of it, but what really stuck with me was the behaviour of the MPs They weren’t paying attention At one point I counted 6 of the 13 MPs on the committee looking at their phones. And not in that way you do when you’re quickly checking something - two stared at their phones for over half an hour. Several others left before the end Many people think AI is the most important thing in the world. The MPs were warned there was a 50/50 chance it might destroy humanity! You’d think that’d be enough to make you take your chance to listen to experts and key players on the topic - apparently not
