A client wants some of my exercises in Python. I'm enlisting Grok to help. I've done some Python (and hunted pythons in Florida), but I'm not Pythonic. Grok did a great job converting my C++ exercise to Python. I learned a number of things about Python in a short time. I have a feeling, letting AI translate code you know to a new language would be a good way to learn that language. My original exercise uses pure virtual base classes to build a spy and a fake. I was expecting to see duck typing, and instead learned about Python decorators. But Grok, it is just duck typing underneath? Kind of, but at object creation you get an early warning of the @abstractmethod is not implemented. Grok went on the say it is not Pythonic. Also, Grok figured out I was on my way to using dependency injection. I did not get bit by the Python, and so far have not been bit by Grok.

Just like payrolls taxes. No one notices.
🍕 I think we’re all just upset that we didn’t think of this ourselves. This is applicable to so many things: Cakes, pies, giant cookies! The chef’s tax just got real! Writer: Jamie

Development is iterative and AI does not change that. It makes it more obvious. Do you want to start learning how to work iteratively? If so, I have room for a few more in my Test-Driven Development for Embedded C/C++ coming July 7, 8, 9. Find out about more about my live training and join here: wingman-sw.com/training/remo… Do you want to work at your own pace? Join my self-paced course: wingman-sw.com/training/self…

Eighty-two years ago, dad was flying his P-38 as wingman for Robin Olds (WWII and Vietnam Ace). Artist Ross Buckland captures the day in Front Row Seats. This artwork, and honoring my dad, let to the name of my company Wingman Software. -- Thanks Dad for being my Wingman!

Dan Bongino paused mid-sentence on Fox News to deliver a HEATED request straight to Democrat Rep. Hakeem Jeffries: “We’re just asking that YOUR Democrats just stop trying to shoot President Trump, okay?!” BONGINO: “Hey, I got to address one thing though.” “You addressed earlier Hakeem Jeffries talking about this civility thing.” “Listen, Hakeem, we’re not asking for civility, guy!” “We’re just asking that YOUR Democrats just stop trying to shoot President Trump, okay?!” “Forget civility! We don’t give a DAMN if you’re nice and if you write respectfully at the end of your emails.” “Just please stop trying to shoot the president!” “Like...can we just agree on that Mr. Jeffries?!”

What are the odds those tiki torch carrying neo-Nazis from Charlottesville would only rally once? Feels like it was an American intel op against Trump. That’s my working assumption.

Sounds like an interesting story.
Are we writing fiction, or are we practising engineering? If you know my work, you know I generally prefer data and science over fiction. But @RealGeneKim's fantastic novel, The Unicorn Project, made me realise something... 🧵 1/9

Just a few pages in... "expressed regret at the “glitch,” and vowed that the mistake would not be repeated." “glitch,” like its due to some unavoidable phenomenon.

It's okay to vent and complain. Don't overdo it. Remember that complaining about a problem and solving it are different activities. If you're doing one, you're not doing the other.

I just scheduled a public TDD for Embedded C/C++ training course, using three sessions over two or three weeks. This is different than my usual immersive three days in a row. The good thing about this format is that you may be able to fit the training into a busy schedule and spend more time doing the exercises between each session. The dates are Feb 19, 26, TDB. I'm trying to finalize the last session date. Start time is USA friendly, running from 10AM EST, for up to five hours each session. You also get a year of access to my self-paced TDD training materials to deepen your learning. If you are interested, register at the link below. We don't invoice anyone until the schedule is finalized. wingman-sw.com/training/remo…
