Vivek Ramaswamy is interrupted by a protester just seconds after taking the stage after using Amy Acton's estranged mother in a campaign ad

I wish I could say I’m shocked to see Republicans cheering on a woman who stood by her daughter’s rapist. But this is who and what they are. The party of Hastert.

If I had a nickel for every time Vivek put someone married to a pedophile in his campaign ad, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

The court records speak for themselves. Vivek Ramaswamy’s ad is disgusting—there is no lie, no scam, and no shameful act too low for him.
.@VivekGRamaswamy campaign responds:

ALT Attributable to Connie Luck, spokesperson for the Vivek Ramaswamy campaign: “We don't know what happened between Amy and her mother, who first spoke out about Amy in 2020, but we know that Amy Acton is a serial fabulist who has some serious problems with the truth that the public needs to be aware of before deciding who to entrust as governor.

Imagine knowing these circumstances and deciding to green light this ad anyway. We are so numb to the gutter politics of this era that it’s sometimes hard to shock but I have a feeling Mike DeWine and John Kasich Republicans are going to be disgusted with Ramaswamy on this one and it costs him more votes than Acton.

.@amyactonoh on Vivek Ramaswamy's abhorrent campaign ad:
"I won't normalize somebody who has said that my childhood is 'something I'm just complaining about,' who today, just released an ad using my birth mother, who I was removed from at the age of 12 for severe abuse and neglect and sexual abuse... The words our leaders use matter and I think it's gonna take courage right now from all of us to stop normalizing this sort of rhetoric."

Amy Acton's estranged mother lost custody of her children after her second husband was charged with rape and indicted by a grand jury. In court, Amy's mother stood by her husband instead of her twelve-year-old daughter. They haven't spoken since that day in court, nearly 50 years ago.
Politics has become such a disappointing sport of outrage-fueled mud-slinging, personal attacks targeting families, and blatant lies designed to divide. Candidates should debate the issues and focus on convincing voters that their plans and leadership will make life better. That's what politics should be about: bringing people together. Stunts like today's attack ad against Dr. Acton are beneath anyone seeking to lead. nytimes.com/2026/10/20/us/po…

NEW: Following the release of an ad in which her mother, Donna Arthur, attacks her, court records obtained by @NRO confirm key parts of Amy Acton’s personal history, including that she was sexually abused by her stepfather while Arthur was married to him nationalreview.com/news/amy-…

The ad released by Vivek Ramaswamy is disgusting. Everyone, including Jon Husted, should be willing to condemn this ad.
This is absolutely sick. Only someone who’s deeply depraved and a closeted sociopath would ever think to do something this ghastly to a rape victim. There’s nothing @VivekGRamaswamy won’t do, say for money/power. Ask George Soros' bro about the loan VR took when making $2,250,000

Vivek Ramaswamy wanted to use Amy Acton’s abusive mother to gain himself votes
Unfortunately for him, Ohio voters are now going to know that Amy Acton survived a horrific childhood and that Vivek Ramaswamy is a robber baron who’s the LOWEST of the LOW
Amy Acton's brother reacts to Vivek Ramaswamy using their estranged mother in a campaign ad:
"...Our birth mother stayed married to Amy’s rapist until he died. This desperate, disgusting attack reveals exactly who Vivek Ramaswamy is at his core – a pathetic excuse for a man who is willing to hurt anyone as long as it gets him what he wants.”

Having spent time with @VivekGRamaswamy on his campaign, I knew that he was an insufferable, arrogant prick. But I didn't realize that he would stoop this low. Vivek should pull the ad, apologize and resign from the campaign in disgrace before Ohio voters send his ass home.

Vivek Ramaswamy is a desperate, disgusting person willing to do anything to win, and still won't.

Amy Acton’s mother stayed married to Amy’s rapist until the day he died. Republicans just paid her to star in an attack ad. Everyone involved should be fired and cast out of polite society. Fucking ghouls.
