Any pursuit of superintelligence has to be grounded in the core principle that if the AI we build is not helping humanity and under human control, it's not worth pursuing.
We also need to accelerate and spread the benefits of AI, such that they are diffused broadly across countries, communities, and companies. This requires a frontier ecosystem in which both closed and open-source models can thrive.
And for firms, it’s imperative that they retain full control over their unique and tacit knowledge. Every organization should be able to build its own continuous learning loop/hill climbing machine, without becoming dependent on any one model provider, and have the ability to embed its own knowledge into models and weights they control.
So, in this context, we welcome the research, focus, and deliberate pacing needed to get alignment right as the design goal. We also welcome ideas like "embedded evaluators" and the broader efforts to develop the mechanisms to make this more than just talk.
The key is that this cannot be controlled by a handful of entities, but must have broad representation across the ecosystem, countries, and fields, including academia.
This is the approach we are taking: broad access and choice at every layer of the AI stack; enterprise control of learning loops and models; and the “Code of Conduct” that underlies our own first party MAI models that we’ll publish tomorrow for public consultation.
GPT-6 Astra in Copilot Cowork 🔥
Our goal is to deliver the latest frontier AI models to customers the moment they’re ready. Today, I’m excited to share that OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra is available on day one across Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, GitHub Copilot, and Microsoft Foundry.
Astra represents an important step forward in the kind of complex, multi-step work AI helps people accomplish. As models continue to improve, people are moving from using AI for individual tasks to delegating larger pieces of work. Astra can complete long running and highly complex tasks in a way we haven’t seen before.
At Microsoft, we’re bringing those capabilities into the products and workflows our customers already use every day. Astra is paired with Work IQ in Microsoft Copilot to ground intelligence in an organization’s files, meetings, chats, and business data.
Looking forward to seeing what customers build with it. Read more in the blog: aka.ms/astraincopilot
If you send me a purely AI message to me on Teams passing it as your own I better see the “Sent by Copilot Cowork” tagline.

Copilot Cowork is now generally available worldwide, now with multi-model support!
Every organization can put long-running agents to work on complex, multi-step tasks, grounded in your organization's unique knowledge and know-how. microsoft.com/en-us/microsof…
Copilot Cowork is here, and it has superpowers with all your work data + frontier model-choice and long-running & scheduled agentic loops.
Been super fun designing and building this over the past few months...so much more to come.
Been amazing working with the Copilot Cowork team to build the new mobile experience - Cowork moves from ideas to actions and is genuinely super useful to use everyday at work. Excited for everyone to try it out.
In the last month, people have been using Copilot Cowork to do amazing things – from building inbox workflows to sales campaigns. And I’m excited to share three big updates to help you accomplish even more: 1) mobile on iOS and Android so you can delegate work from anywhere, 2) skills to help you reuse and scale how work is done and 3) new plugins + connectors to bring your data into the flow of work.
I’ve been testing these updates out – here’s a quick demo of how I’ve been using mobile in my daily work.

this was a fun one to design with @justinchando

Once you try sending tasks over text it’s hard to go back. It’s really magical just texting Copilot and having it do things for you…so proud of this one!
Tasks now has SMS support! Just delegate via text and get notified when it's finished. And scheduled tasks can run on your behalf, one-off or recurring. Getting great feedback from early testers (more features coming soon) so join the wait list now: copilot.microsoft.com/tasks/…
Copilot Tasks is a HUGE leap forward. It simply gets things done.
Document, presentation, and spreadsheet generation is seriously next level. And browser use built in makes it crazy powerful.
We've been working on a whole new way to get things done: Copilot Tasks. AI that talks less and does more, no complicated setup or coding skills required. Just ask for what you need and Copilot will take it from there, like:
- Turn a syllabus into a complete study plan, with practice tests created and focus time blocked before each exam
- Track new apartment rental listings nearby every Friday and book showings
- Every evening, surface urgent emails with draft replies ready to send, and automatically unsubscribe from promotional mails I never open
We’ve opened it up as a Research Preview to a small group of testers, and you can join the wait list for access here: copilot.microsoft.com/tasks/…

We planned our whole Thanksgiving in a Copilot Group with my family…we are still messaging to coordinate cooking times and oven temps 🍽 And you don’t even need to have the app to join!

The @GroupMe engineers love when I say “AIM had this back in 1999”
1,000 people playing pickleball in Charlotte...a tennis group could never pull this off.
Incredible how many amazing communities like this are on @GroupMe 💙
It's something silly, but I'm actually really grateful there is a GroupMe for anyone that plays Pickle Ball in Charlotte with over 1000 people
Everyone's really friendly and it's easy to find people to play with and it's like a marketplace Lost and Found it's a pretty awesome community and I recommend people to start one in their city
Kind of crazy it’s taken this long to have basic social mechanics in an AI app
