Nobody notices an 8% drop in average order value. The revenue line still goes up. That is why it survives to month end.
Number of times a client's "unprecedented scale" turned out to exceed one Postgres box: zero. Sample size: not small.
Every data quality incident has the same first hour: someone scrolls through deploys looking for one that sounds plausible.
Shipped an endpoint that returned 405 in production while 1,492 tests passed. Every one of them called mocked code. Unit tests cannot see the gap between your route and the world.
PostgreSQL 19 has been delayed after AI reviews uncovered more bugs than developers had time to fix.
The release is now expected around November 19, with roughly eight to ten major features pulled during beta.
PostgreSQL committer Peter Eisentraut says AI-assisted reviews helped uncover edge cases that might previously have surfaced over years of real-world use.
Finding them early created another problem. Every report still needs someone to investigate, fix, and test it.
Even a three-line fix takes time when dozens of reports arrive together.
AI reviews weren’t the only factor. Some features had deeper architectural problems, while security fixes had already consumed senior developers’ time.
Eisentraut also says this largely wasn’t caused by vibe coding. Much of the affected code predates today’s AI coding tools.
The team is holding back unfinished features so those problems don’t become users’ problems.

The worst data bugs are not the ones that crash. They are the ones where a sixth of the rows are quietly wrong and every row looks plausible on its own.
