British Left-Wing Media Outlet ‘The Canary’ Has Announced It Is Officially Closing After 11 Years Of Journalism
The platform was de-banked by Lloyds Bank & later announced a second account with Metro Bank was also frozen. A major attack was launched against the platform, which The Canary said made continuing to operate untenable.
The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) condemned the move by Lloyds Bank as a “disturbing precedent for UK press freedom”. Online commentators have warned that the ability of the establishment to cripple media organisations critical of them creates a hostile environment that will pressure other news outlets to fall into line or face similar potential backlash.

Can anyone remember the last time @BBCNews interviewed a Palestinian about their experience of the racism of Zionism? Having spent the last two weeks interviewing elderly Nakba survivors in Jordan, driven off their land in their teens because of their ethnicity and religion, I'd be happy to suggest some astonishingly articulate victims of Israeli racism who would be only too happy to tell their tragic stories of eviction, slaughter and dispossession. Then the context disappears.
The edited clip lands on Al Jazeera, Times of Israel and across social media as another example of “violent settlers.”
Sometimes the real story starts before the camera angle they want you to see.

The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation.
Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable.
But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual.
The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence.
We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria.
The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.
