I remember being in a small group meeting in SF at the Morgan Stanley TMT conference at the Palace about a decade ago when she was CEO of Yahoo. She was talking to us about the innovation and new products at Yahoo and nobody cared. Why? Well at the time YHOO’s stock valuation was like 80-90 pct based on the price of Alibaba (BABA) given their holding of the stock that had just gone public.
She asked us in the meeting why YHOO’s stock was so weak (BABAs stock was weak as China macro was showing signs of weakening). A single manager CIO/founder came clean and had to explain to her everybody in the meeting basically owned YHOO as a cheaper way to get long exposure to BABA. She literally didn’t know this / was surprised. I remember being shocked at her lack of self awareness of what YHOO was worth / what drove the stock. She kept talking about MAVENS during the meeting and none of us gave a fak what she was talking about xitter.cf/nypost/status/21147706…

"August 2026 Expansion: CMC's Board of Directors authorized a fresh $600 million increase to its existing common stock repurchase program, lifting its total buyback capacity to roughly $717 million."
I don't like the sound of that.
$CVLT.... Relative strength. I still don't understand 1/2 of these Nasdaq tech cos... They remain expensive even after 10 years of ranging and on a growth adj. basis.
Story is margin self help. "Teradata delivered a mixed Q2. The top line is stalling, with total revenue coming in flat (0% YoY) and Q3 guidance pointing to a contraction. More concerning is Public Cloud ARR—the supposed growth engine—which decelerated sharply to 8% YoY from 13% last quarter. However, management is executing ruthlessly on costs. Non-GAAP operating margin expanded by an impressive 510 basis points to 21.5%, driving a massive EPS beat and an upward revision to full-year earnings guidance. The company is generating significant cash, but the 'AI-driven' revenue inflection remains elusive."

one of the most interesting things about humans is that when people are honest - even in good faith - they often get brutally angry about it
Jascha at Anthropic is frankly telling students what they need to hear: there is no career security, the regime of earth-intelligence is changing and you need to transform / surf it, and it will be uncomfortable
^ this is honest and good
then this dude posts "OMG! he's EVIL for saying this!"
humans do this thing where if what someone says is something they won't WANT to hear, they get angry with the person who said it...
...and they do this INSTEAD of dealing frankly and squarely with the actual uncomfortable thing being talked about
...as if complaining and banging the table and killing the messenger will make everything better
Anthropic employee tells students at university that their career won't exist when they graduate.
Imagine the levels of psychopathy it takes to give a speech to students trying to make their future better, then telling them don't bother, don't plan for the future, your degree is worthless and you wont have jobs.
