A patient’s age shouldn’t determine their access to treatment or the standard of care they receive - we worked with @gmcuk and others on why ageism in healthcare must be challenged- gmc-uk.org/professional-stan…

Perks of the job! Pear and walnut chutney and mandarin marmalade! Both award winning. Given as a leaving present from the wife of a patient on our hospital at home! She also said we were “angels!” @UKHaHSoc

Why didn’t I think of this? It’s brilliant.
Major academic publishers are getting sued for unlawfully appropriating billions of dollars. Prof. Lucina Qazi Uddin, a neuroscientist at UCLA, has sued these six academic publishers Elsevier, Wolters Kluwer, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, Sage, and Springer Nature. The lawsuit claims that these publishers violate antitrust laws on the following three grouds: 1. The publishers have colluded to fix the price of peer review at zero. 2. These publishers agree to not compete with each by making it obligatory for researchers to submit their work to only one journal at a time. 3. These publishers prohibit scholars from sharing scientific advancements while they are under peer review, which can take up to a year. Here's a comparison of the publishers' revenue and what they pay authors and reviewers Elsevier: $3.9 billion Springer Nature: $2 billion Wolters Kluwer: $1.6 billion Wiley: $1.8 billion Taylor & Francis: $800 million Sage: $500 million They pay: Authors: $0 Peer reviewers: $0

Patients and staff understand hospital at home! Doesn’t mean we can’t be efficient and effective using virtual support but let’s use names people are asking for and understand

Today I did an epley manoeuvre on a 100 yo lady on her own bed. BPPV can be hideous but can be devastating if you’re frail. Anyone done one in an even older person? @GeriSoc @UKHaHSoc @EstherClift @JoannaHNewman

Please consider contacting them if you have any experience of frailty hospital at home/virtual wards. I’ve done it, took about 30 minutes. Really important to get enough to sign up! @UKHaHSoc
Frailty virtual wards are growing in number across the NHS. We want to hear from staff involved in patient care, ward management, planning, policy or evaluation, to develop an understanding of how they are intended to work and why. Take part: ths.im/49hx5OJ
