Tesla FSD (Supervised) has just officially been approved in Belgium! 🇧🇪
This is now the 5th European country to get FSD approval.
Vlaanderen omarmt innovatie!
🇰🇷🇰🇷 Korea is Awesome 🇰🇷🇰🇷
For the first time ever, an imported vehicle became the best-selling car in South Korea and it’s the Tesla Model Y
Not just the best-selling EV
The best-selling vehicle overall
Historic moment in Hyundai and Kia’s home market 🇰🇷
May sales:
• Tesla Model Y: 8,762
• Kia Sorento: 7,836
• Hyundai Grandeur: 5,183
Tesla as a brand sold 10,866 cars in Korea last month, more than BMW and Mercedes-Benz combined
Even crazier: roughly one in three imported cars sold in Korea this year has been a Tesla
Tesla has now been the No. 1 import brand in Korea for four straight months
No imported model had ever done this before
A Tesla did

Crazy busy week, but feeling fantastic. Starting a new business always gives me so much energy. Been working 7 am-11 pm for 7 days straight, but I’m in such a flow state that my Oura ring shows only very few stress peaks. Can’t do this for weeks anymore like in the past though :)

My prediction: No European car companies may survive the next decade, they all missed the boat on EVs. Most don’t even realize it yet.
BREAKING: Stellantis, $STLA, is taking a $26 billion hit and writing down their electric vehicle business.
The stock has collapsed on the news, now down -27% today.

I wish I’d have neighbours like that. Even most of my friends don’t (want to) see what’s coming. Hardly any of them are preparing for it either, they seem to think it’ll all be fine.
Was this why Jews didn’t flee Germany in the 1930s? Did they not (want to) see what was coming?

Zuivere economische theorie. Helaas.

Talent is moving from Apple to Tesla to realize and bring to market the most advanced AI-controlled humanoid robot the world has seen.
Optimus may not be the first product on the market, but I don't know of any other product that comes close to Tesla's Software and Hardware level.
The hands are a good example of this, because with hands that can't do everything a human can do, it won't be possible to bring a humanoid robot to market that can do everything a human can do and that's the goal. If you have another goal thats fine, but then you are not developing a humanoid robot that will do all and everything and thats needed.
As with FSD, there are delays with Optimus, which is just a sign that Tesla wants to do it right and not take shortcuts like e.g. autonomous cars with many sensors and Lidar, a fools errand, which ultimately only lead to a local maximum and a dead end.
A specialized robot that can perform one task well may look great at first, but it can't compete with a robot that can perform every conceivable task well, and that's the key difference. You don't want to have four different versions of humanoid robots at home for 4 tasks, and you don't want to have ten different versions in your factory, as this is insufficient, limits productivity and flexibility, and incurs high costs.
Also, never forget that mass production and financial flexibility and strength is one of Tesla's core competencies. Once they find the best solution for designing and producing Optimus, it will be a product that no other company can compete with.
Until then, you'll have to expect delays and lots of nice videos from other vendors featuring humanoid robots that can perform a limited number of tasks well but cannot be further improved and thats for me as an $tsla investor just a marketing stunt with no relevance.
Career Update: After almost four memorable years, I moved on from Apple last week, closing an unforgettable chapter of my professional journey.
I’m sincerely grateful for the opportunities to work on so many amazing projects and products across the company. Though many of them are not public yet (wait for the surprise!), I feel greatly honored to experience, learn and grow from IC to tech lead, from engineering to research, from larger engineering teams to early product incubation and prototyping. Each role has offered me invaluable unique lessons. Above all, my deepest gratitude goes to my colleagues, mentors and friends who made this journey truly unparalleled and meaningful. I’ll miss you all.
New Chapter: I’m joining Tesla Optimus AI team to work on humanoid robots.
Humanoids are the ultimate dream of our generation. With the recent breakthrough of LLMs and Physical AI, this dream is finally within reach and it’s on us to make it come true. Tesla has the right combination of software, hardware and AI talents to make it happen - I was totally blown away by the scale and sophistication of the Optimus lab and deep dedication of people when I got to visit the office. My first week was already so much fun and exciting: flat team structure, spontaneous deep technical discussions, direct communications across levels, hardcore building and crazy ideas with super fast iterations. You can feel the energy to change the world here. I really like it so far.

Tesla has been working hard toward shipping Full Self-Driving (Supervised) in Europe for over 12 months now. We have given FSD demos to regulators of almost every EU country. We have requested early access, pilot release programs or exemptions where possible.
We have developed & shared detailed safety evidence for FSD, now public in our latest Safety Report. And we have driven over 1 million kilometers safely on EU roads across 17 different countries (internal testing).
Our main path to success is partnering with the Dutch approval authority RDW to gain exemption for the feature. This involves proving compliance with existing regulations (UN-R-171 DCAS) + filing an exemption (EU Article 39) for yet-to-be-regulated behaviors like Level 2 systems off-highway, system-initiated lane changes with hands-off the wheel etc.
Some of these regulations are outdated and rules-based, which makes FSD illegal in its current form. Changing FSD to be compliant with these rules would make it unsafe and unusable in many cases. While we have changed FSD to be maximally compliant where it is logical and reasonable, we won't sacrifice the safety of a proven system or materially deteriorate customer usability.
As a result, we are gathering evidence to get exemptions on a specific rule-by-rule basis. Unfortunately, the real world fleet-proven safety wins alone are considered insufficient.
Currently, RDW has committed to granting Netherlands National approval in February 2026. Please contact them via link below to express your excitement & thank them for making this happen as soon as possible. Upon NL National approval, other EU countries can immediately recognize the exemption and also allow rollout within their country. Then we will bring it to a TCMV vote for official EU-wide approval.
We're excited to bring FSD to our owners in Europe soon!
