Left an agent running overnight and for the first time hyper-efficient Opus 5.5 ran out of 5hr quota (after just 3hrs too). What surprises me is that on Max x20 you're still locked out of web chat. No casual conceptual questions to muse over whilst you wait, no light usage, just dead. Feels like a gap. @claudeai

Gemini Argon 4 quota is hopeless on Pro account. On High effort it seems you can only ask 2-3 questions every 5 hours. I knew quota was limited but I thought if I used it as an extra head in conceptual planning alongside Astra, Fable and Opus it would be the power move, but no. Why does Google have no AI fuel?

I thought Gemini might have been able to compete by having generous amounts of compute, but I guess Argon is a gas guzzler and compute availability is compromised by providing a broad spectrum of non-Frontier miscellaneous AI products casually used by normies.

I find it funny that @claudeai will still delete things generated in Projects that I made only 6 weeks or so ago, presumably to save storage. You're a Max x20 subscriber but you're treated like you're on the free tier. Claude has literally asked me if I had downloaded the files and if so, could I send them back so it can build the updated file. 🤣

Holy shit, back in July I either predicted the future or Trump / Elon stole the idea from me. 🤣😁

Argon 4 is an interesting model, but inconsistent. This is to be expected because they've not had a frontier model available to users for so long, they lack feedback. It has good spatial awareness 3d, UI, etc. not far behind Opus and Astra. It has good world knowledge and it can communicate nicely. If Google can release a 4.1 version 4 weeks from now, and consistently update very month after that, then Google is still a credible provider. If it's going to be another 8 months like last time, then no.

I thought this was an April fool until I checked the calendar... Yes, this is the first Google frontier model in 8 long months...
Today we are rolling out Gemini 4 Argon globally in the Gemini API, to Pro + Ultra in Gemini App, and Ultra subs in Antigravity! Argon is a huge step forward for Gemini, and a labor of love. This model has been battle tested by over 100,000 people at Google over the last month, with so much new innovation, ambition, and hard work baked into this release. The team has been heads down over the last 6 months working to make this possible across the stack (research, infra, safety, eng, etc). We rolled the model out to cyber defenders as part of our fairwind program and early access customers over the last 2 weeks, it has been amazing to see and talk to folks who are now using this model daily. Seeing the models writing capability, raw knowledge and persistence for coding, paired with new features like 1M token output when the model needs to work more has gotten me even more excited about our path ahead. This is just the start of the Gemini 4 era. As you saw with 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8 Flash, our iteration speed with Gemini is fast : ) Now with Gemini 4 Argon to work from, I am cannot wait to see the progress continue, and most importantly see what this new model enables for the world. This is such a special moment in the arc of technology, as millions of people everyday tackle problems they could never have thought possible before. Gemini 4 Argon was built to help you tackle the hardest problems. I have personally felt this spark with Argon and hope you do too. Onwards!!

Today for the first time I tried Claude with headless Blender Python script! 🛠️ It made an airplane I used to fly. Claude built it piece by piece in a little hangar workshop it made from scratch. I'm speechless!

Opus 5.5 is such a good communicator. When I venture back to Fable it's more technical, not quite "Claude Speak" but more effortful to digest. Astra and Sol annoy me with basics like bad formatting.

Haiku 5.5 is very impressive and super cheap for an Anthropic model. Buried in the launch announcement however was that Sonnet 5.5 cache read price was halved. This now makes it viable for long running agentic work. Previously the price was the same as Opus 5.5, so it made more sense to use that.

Bookmark this should we need to roast him later 😁
I work at Google DeepMind and yes I have tried the model known externally as “Argon”. I can say this: I don’t reach for Opus anymore for any work (like I did when 3.8 Flash was our top model). I hope that it will soon be generally available for everyone to enjoy!

I was doubting a Gemini frontier model would ever be seen again. 🤯 The benchmarks are meaningless (remember when Flash 3.8 was supposed to be Opus 5 level?), I just hope they now start dropping model updates regularly.
Introducing Gemini 4 Argon – our new frontier model. It’s built for complex workflows across coding, enterprise knowledge work, and cybersecurity defense – rolling out today to a set of trusted testers through our Fairwind Program.

Grok Bot is so popular that now we’re seeing many knockoff brands popping up with very similar names 😂

GPT-6.1 Sol launching 7 days after GPT-6.0 Sol is hilarious. Opus 5.5 forced their hand.

Girls and boys... If you increase your creatine intake from 5mg to 10mg a day you can run 3x more coding agents. (I write this as a joke, but some people on X actually seem to be doing this!) 🤯

Sonnet 5.5 seems smart because is burns more tokens to compensate for actually being dumber, reducing the price advantage - turn up effort and the effect compounds. The cache read price is the same as Opus 5.5, so in long agent runs it's better to just run Opus which is more capable, has better taste and knowledge. If you use short-run fresh sub-agents for utilitarian tasks, then Sonnet is a good fit.

Tibo wrote an essay to say the OpenAI $200 plan now only gives you 50% of the tokens it did before. 😭 Very tactical to do this 24hrs before the big shiny new releases tomorrow - hoping you wont notice. For me Astra is just a bug catcher, but sucks if Astra is your workhorse!
Hi, Tomorrow we are re-opening the Pro $200 subscriptions to new subscribers, but together with it we are also changing how we calculate the usage for it. In effect, if you do the math, it will net out at half the dollar in API spend compared to the old Pro $200 plan. Now that it's said, let me explain why this is happening and why you will still get more work done than if you were on the Pro $200 subscription one month ago. (a) We didn't want to compromise in other ways and are committing to not reintroducing the 5h limit, so that you can fully use the weekly usage when you want. (b) On the subscription, we guarantee that over time you always get more work done and with an increasing level of quality. This means that you will continue to get more value per dollar spent as a result of models getting more efficient and us passing down the improvements in the form of API price reductions. (c) We don't want to put an incentive on ourselves to artificially inflate the API list prices to make it look like you are getting a lot (and workaround it through discounts, etc). Instead we want to continue to both rapidly reduce prices and increase capabilities of models on the API. This week we introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna at 50% of their previous price. Over time, we see prices go low enough that it makes sense for most to buy usage as needed without there being a significant gap between what you get in a subscription and what you get in the API for a dollar spent. (d) Tomorrow, we are adding more things to the subscription that won't draw on the usage, I won't reveal what that is yet. I wanted to be transparent before all the big announcements tomorrow. Lots of new exciting things are coming to the subscriptions that will make it super compelling, but I wanted to make sure to share this change ahead of time so you can all understand it before we shower you with good news. Codexingly, Tibo

UK government's AI advice is a giggle a minute 🤣
the uk government's official ai guidance tells civil servants to use gemini flash instead of pro, keep prompts short, and not say thank you to it, for the environment i do wonder at which point we forked the road. instead of building and using it to automate the work, we write guidance on how to use less of it we have the attitude of a high school prefect. caring more about the rules than actually doing the work

I feel Opus 5.5 is a generation ahead of everything else. I was holding onto the idea that Fable 5.1 and Astra were the true frontier, maybe Opus 5.5 was 95% as good as Fab 5.1 but much more affordable. But some of the things people have created are in a whole new league of accomplishment. Even if Fable is still a superior model, the speed and cost of Opus 5.5 makes it much more accessible and efficient.
Ever wonder what $1874.40 of Opus 5.5 tokens looks like? Wonder no more. I highly recommend watching the whole video on 1080p on a large screen with sound on. Pay attention to all the little details. - Birds flying and diving into the ocean. - Cloth, signs and lights swaying in the wind. - Crabs scuttling along the shore and burrowing when you get close. - Fish swimming alongside the whale. - Lights illuminating the dock at night Then zoom out and see the entire island. Never dipping below 60 FPS at 1440p resolution. Yes, there's a few bugs and visual artifacts, some textures need improving, the shorelines waves sometimes look funny, but these are so trivial to fix at this point. FYI I'm on the $200 subscription plan. This used 59% of my weekly usage and took 2h 7h of API time using multiple subagents, about 8h in real-time. There was extremely little technical direction here. 99% of my prompts were "Add X and Y" or "This looks weird, make it better". It's a great time for hobbyists, bad time for professionals. This experiment has further cemented my view that technical creatives are about to experience a massive disruption.

My feed is full of either Opus 5.5 demos, or Opus 5.5 vs GPT-6 Astra comparisons. It's like GPT-6 Sol never happened. (Press F to pay respects to Grok 4.7)
