I think the "political leaders" are in for a shock.
Any attempt at conscription is highly likely to meet enormous resistance and refusal. When that response becomes unmanageable the credibility of any government to compel the population on any matter falls apart.

Those of us who have decided not to watch terrestrial TV should not be forced to pay for and prop up an outdated system.

Most who have decided not to fund the BBC have taken a principled stand. Few are willing to pay for the BBC's politically biased programming and straightforward propaganda.
